The Dark Before Dawn

Lynn Austin never fails to capture my interest and Fire in the Night is no exception. Phoebe is one of those characters you'll never forget with her plain, outspoken charm. Dr. McGraff and his secrets compel the reader to guess and second guess his past. Julia is a strong, determined woman who finds herself through strange circumstances. As usual, you'll be glad you read another Lynn Austin masterpiece.

A compelling story that will warm the hearts of readers and capture their interest as they laugh at Aunt Batty and embrace Eliza' heartaches and joy as her life unfolds revealing the experiences that culminate in the joy she yearned for from childhood. One of Lynn Austin's best!

Compelling ,Historical , Surprising

I'm drawn to historical novels about WW 2, but this one is especially interesting. Given the struggle between Russia and Ukraine, an account of a Ukrainian born, female sniper captured my attention.l. Lyudmila Pavlichenko ranks in the top ten deadliest snipers in the world, yet she was a loving mother, fervent patriot and recognized historian. Moreover, she found time for romance in the middle of one of the worst wars in history. I listened while, driving, cooking, cleaning, walking and more. i highly recommend it to those interested in a little known war hero

Good Story, Poor Narration!

This story would probably have been better if the narration had been more engaging.. The story line is predictable but, as with most stories of Hollacaust survivors, I'm always amazed at how they did it

Story of Restoration and Hope

I've read all Charles Martin's book but read the Awakening Series last. This, his first books, are as good as any of his others.
The author is masterful at describing personal attributes, the environment and setting and, most of all, gut-wrenching feelings associated with human suffering and the exhilaration that comes with acceptance and renewed hope. the characters will become the reader's friends who often share common pain as well as joy. Knowing Mr. Martin"s faith in God makes all his writing a bonus for readers.

Light Overcomes Darkness

The Dekkers have created a masterful allegory that takes the reader through the shadows that all experience in one form or another. Grace, aptly named, falls victim to her own fears as she travels toward truth.
The reader must endure the darkness with the characters before awareness not only leads to salvation but undoubtedly grips the reader with a revelry of thought-provoking scenarios to deal with. I highly recommend the Dekkers latest book to all both the spiritual and non-spiritual.

I've listened to 3 books in the series and can't wait to hear the 4th. The main characters share my values and address several issues of believers and non believers. I suggest you read/listen to the books in order to become a part of this small, southern community.
