Historia
A chain, a portal, and darkness. That was all it took for Rob's life to go from the mundanity of college to being forced to survive in a hostile fantasy world full of horribly mutated creatures. Despite discovering civilization and making allies, his newfound home was sadly short-lived, leaving the survivors to pick up the pieces and make for greener pastures. Having won the respect of the locals via a heroic almost-sacrifice, Rob travels with them, recognizing the importance of having people around to watch your back.

Very solid book
Revisado: 02-03-25
This series is very close to receiving a perfect rating from me. Here's why it won't.
The performance:
-Pros
Both voice actors do a great job. I'm extremely pleased they casted a female counter part, to the male actor. This was an brilliant decision!
-Cons
The male actor as good as he is, in my opinion, tends to stream his words into a streaming jumble. When acting the more excited parts like combat this is the most apparent to me. That said, this is a minor thing.
The story:
-Pros
Well written, good vocabulary, and interesting plot.
-Cons
The author has a habit to review recently written events shortly after the event occurred.
The author also tends to have the main character monologue in tediousness.

Historia
After resolving all the pending SPECIAL Quests that had been plaguing him, Thaden is finally ready to evolve his Class, where he can then continue to Level-up past his current limit. Unfortunately, his current Evolution Assignment is proving to be a bit more difficult than his last one, as it requires him to complete one of the new Intermediate dungeons with a full Raid Party of at least 100 people without any casualties. Throwing money at the problem might’ve worked in the past, but now there’s a complication that makes such a prospect nearly impossible.

Over thinking, and killer stats.
Revisado: 01-27-25
- The main character's overthinking of simple concepts makes the reader groan with the labor of it. "Reading on a characters train of thought is fine, but when minutes are wasted on passing thoughts with little to no importance. Just gives the impression that the MC is chronically indecisive."
- The user interface is annoying to listen to in audio format. it passes in written form, but it's annoying to listen to because it's information that is skimmed normally. "Condensed the UI info."
- Having the MC repeating information instantly after it has beed announced by the User Interface is aggravating. "Please pick a perspective."
+ The overall plot is interesting enough to keep me read/listening.
This book suffers from UI status and inner dialogue bloat. This destroys the pacing of the gripping story.
Is a 3 of 5. should be a 4

Historia
Carter Ash wakes up with no memories in a virtual basic training. All the recruits will die within the next six weeks. Lucky for them, they’ve all got three lives. He’s assigned to a squad with his goofy friend and another captivating cadet, Iris. They have to keep each other alive as long as possible because when they die, they get assigned their permanent character class. And everyone in the squad wants a valuable class, ideally the kind where you don’t get killed immediately.

Decent but kinda generic, won't continue.
Revisado: 12-23-24
This book... kept my interest throughout the read. Though just barely. The over all plot is a horse 🐴 beaten. As far as friendship always wins. It is a poor replacement for character development.
The self awareness of the White Knighting at the end of the first book was hollow and pointless. As much of the other choices the author made with the main character. For example, the author made many references to 3 classes that are purely shit to gain within the whole first book. The the Author gives the main character 45 choices toward a second class. All of them based off the actions made through out the book. This was an awesome critical point for the MC, and got me excited as a reader.
Then the Author decided through laziness or the lack of imagination. To have the MC dismiss his own wishes toward magic and corresponding stat allocations. By reviewing, and chosing the 3rd new class of the 45 options given.
This blew my mind. Sure the MC is a bit dimwitted with women, but there was no disbelief in the intelligence of MCs' reactions, decisions, or desires up to this critical point of the plot.
So after dismissal of the 3 crap classes that have been talked about repetitively. he complains about the 5th class not giving magic the way he wants. Just to choose the 6th option of 45 offered that has nothing to do with magic.
The MC did not review the 7th, 8th or 40th class option. Leaving me to think that this Author is lazy to allow plot holes like this to continue.
As a reader, my intelligence was insulted. instantly making me uninterested in further reading.
Overall conclusion is don't buy this book unless on sale.
As for narration. Having separate male and female actors was great. Both performed well. Each had a questionable choice in vocals for characters but overall, pleasant.

There have always been whispers. Legends. The warrior who cannot be killed. Who’s seen a thousand civilizations rise and fall. He has had many names: Unute, Child of Lightning, Death himself. These days, he’s known simply as “B.” And he wants to be able to die. In the present day, a U.S. black-ops group has promised him they can help with that. And all he needs to do is help them in return. But when an all-too-mortal soldier comes back to life, the impossible event ultimately points toward a force even more mysterious than B himself. One at least as strong. And one with a plan all its own.

it's 😕 meh.
Revisado: 08-21-24
It is a Cyberpunk based story with anime iseki flare. A decent story that is seriously diminished by social and political dogma.
Lesbian Boss girl with hate for men, meets furrie and transgender aliens to make a super group to save earth.
it has it's few moments of creativity, but beyond that it's a mashup of video game, anime and movie lore.
The use of pronouns is done better and applies some of the time. Though, could have just used the characters name. the forced usage maked that character feel like a side thought at times.
the voice actor is now type casted to many of the "woke" dogma fantasy stories. making her sinominous

Has a great start but falls apart rapidly when it comes to MC consistency. That isn't a "game breaker", but kills emersion.
The dating consultant work was an interesting twist that I enjoyed but my first point diminished it's impact.
Relationship ships in a story are a turn off for me. Mostly because they never have a point to the plot. I see them as a poor work for character development.

Revisado: 07-24-24
Simply put. I found this book dull.
Mostly because of it's repetitiveness on plot points that have been reference many times before. "Hey, remember that thing that we referenced in the last book, and the books before that? Yeah lets kick it again and see it they remember".
Besides that, the side characters developments were trivial. My hot take on romantic relationships in stories should add to plot development, or just... don't do it. You don't refer to people by their love life status as a defining attribute in real life. So why make it a point in this story?
To many characters interacting more than the main. This just made me lose interest instantly. Because "repetitively" reading about side characters that mostly have no impact or are killed off is a waste of time.
To further the point on the Audible version with to many characters. Is the single voice actors' performance was degraded because everyone became the same 3 voices. Causes confusion, and reinforcing my lack of interest in the story.
I'm of the strong opinion that a minimum of 4 hours of reading could have been removed. Making a stronger story.
