I can't wait for the next book to come out! I just finished reading all of them for the second time, and I love this story and world so much, I'm actually going to listen to them again... until the next one is released. this is becoming one of my all time favorites.

Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

getting better...
Revisado: 06-20-23
still... many disparities in power that add up in fights. fights that are also still overcomplicated, confusing, and drawn out way too much. if the author spent half as much time in descriptive details of people, places, and monsters, as he does in long winded fights and inner dialogue, this would be a great story. as it stands, it's a good story with many annoyances. development has been finally improving.

finally worth it...
Revisado: 06-16-23
still dragged out and overly complicated, with poor description. yet... way better than the last few books. does justice to the poor ending of the last book.
finally starting to show direction. still too much inner dialogues, yet... much improvement to characters development.
why only 3 stars, because of the same annoying overuse of inner dialogue and drawn out battles. and, the ratings are already over. valued and unjustified.
still inconsistencies as well. monsters that should be easy, are hard. monsters that should be impossible, are miraculously overcome.

Felix has survived the tribulations of the Void and returned to the Continent. Civilization, at long last. Yet the city of Haarwatch has a terrible new issue. The Inquisition has arrived to stamp out sorcery and unnatural monstrosities...and Felix still has the Primordial Maw riding shotgun in his soul. Now, he must find his friends and a way to remove a section of his very essence before everything comes crashing down. All the while, sinister plots in Haarwatch's center promise dire, bloody consequences for anyone who catches the Inquisition’s eye.

drawn out, over complicated
Revisado: 06-10-23
okay... why are the ratings so high?
4.8? yet, reading the reviews, the book is borderline garbage. and I have to agree. it is borderline garbage. the inner dialogue takes up 90% of the books. the fights are outrageously over complicated with horrible descriptive details. how do you write so much, yet detail so little? very poor writing skills!
and Felix gets his butt kicked by his friends, and enemies that are near him in rather. yet Felix destroys monsters three times his level???
makes absolutely no sense. it's nonsensical, it's garbage.
stop writing inner dialogue!
stop writing despairity in power level that don't make sense.
stop writing inner dialogue over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.... great story ideas, that are extremely poorly executed. stop wasting time. write actual dialogue and include the supporting characters!
I'd really like to know how all the ratings are so undeservedly high!
it's fixed, it's a scam, it's a rip off!

Historia
Felix had risked everything to stop the threat of the Unending Maw. Except instead of death, he and his Companion Pit were transported to the deadly Void, a place far worse than the Foglands. The Maw is there with them, bonded somehow to Felix in a way none of them understand, but all of them hate. The three must navigate the desolate expanse of the dark Void, contending with voidbeasts, marauders, and the creeping influence of the Maw itself. It will take everything that Felix has—and more—merely to survive, let alone escape. All choices have consequences.

the first book was great. this book departed from everything that was great about the first book. I increased listening speed and couldn't finish it fast enough. just when the new world was getting good, he takes us somewhere completely different and BORING!
I will listen to the next book, hoping it gets back to the fun and excitement... honestly, I think you can save your money and skip to the next book. ugh!

most alien books suk, except this one and two orders. ending was ... kinda sukie, but good too. don't wanna ruin it. definitely worth it. the cold forge is still my favorite so far. but this one is my second.
narrator was excellent. avoid female narrators. trust me, they all suck, especially in this genre.

Endless inner dialogue and monologue...
Revisado: 05-21-23
The story ( entire series) is addicting, yet extremely frustrating at the same time. ever arc of the story gets drawn out way too much. at least half of every book is inner dialogue, when we want actual dialogue and real time battles. each second of every battle gets drawn out with five minutes of inner dialogue. 😩
each book has great potential that gets more and more disappointing. this has become a total money grab. most of the original characters are left out and we're left with boring monotony. shame. what a waste of potential.
also, I'm no longer getting the audible discount for owning the kindle version. the audio has gone from $7.49 for books 1-8 to over $20 for the ninth book. I'm not paying that. especially after reading the reviews, of which I completely believe. the author has lost his way, and now only cares about our money.

horribly disappointing ending...
Revisado: 04-30-23
I would give the series overall a 4* rating. would've been a 5, except for the unnecessarily annoying overuse of inner dialogue.
and after ten books, the ending made absolutely no sense. it was so disappointing, that I am frustrated and angry. the author knows it's bad, because he leaves a note explaining it at the end. I think he just doesn't have the creative ability to write a good ending, so came up with nonsense to try to confuse you and then make excuses afterwords.
also, it seems no one is capable of writing great sci Fi nowadays without some lame inclusion of alternative universes and timelines. ugh!

mediocre story, extremely horrible narration.
Revisado: 03-16-23
I might have given this story 3 stars, if not for the author's decision to use this horrible narrator. The narrator is so bland, so dry and extremely feminine, it's impossible to say if it would have been a decent story. that's the author's fault. a very poor decision. the narrator should stick to non fiction, maybe... romance novels. a total waste of a credit. very disappointing!
