Historia
We all have things in our life that we should know by now, but don’t. Absences in our knowledge and skillset that are frankly shameful in an adult. Things that would be too embarrassing to ask anyone to explain – except our very best friend. Listen in as Mel and Sue tackle their ignorance head on, asking each other to explain something that they still don’t know - but absolutely, as adults, should - from how to parallel park to fully understanding bread (why has it got all those holes in it? What, honestly, is yeast?).

Fun, entertaining duo
Revisado: 04-09-25
I enjoy these two bantering it up. Unlike the their baker off hosting stint, this is probably not “kid friendly”, but definitely adult, let’s say,”curious” . Good fun from a very funny team. If you enjoy the French and Saunders vibes, this will be in your wheelhouse, Matey…

Historia
A 13th-century toxic jungle, a bathhouse for tired gods, a red haired fish girl, and a furry woodland spirit - what do these have in common? They all spring from the mind of Hayao Miyazaki, one of the greatest living animators, known worldwide for films such as My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Howl’s Moving Castle, and The Wind Rises. Japanese culture and animation scholar Susan Napier explores the life and art of this extraordinary Japanese filmmaker to provide a definitive account of his oeuvre.

Well written Great cheat sheet
Revisado: 05-24-23
If you have interest in both the man and the films of Ghibli, this is a great book to add to your collection. Well researched, nice insight and a wonderful recap of the films as you follow through his ( still continuing! New movie July ‘23!) life and works.

Historia
This collection of three of Henrik Ibsen's most well-known and important plays is voiced by a sparkling cast and features music, SFX and a full soundscape. Born in 1828, Norwegian playwright, theatre director and poet Ibsen, wrote in Danish yet lived for many years in Italy and Germany. Heralded as one the most distinguished dramatists after Shakespeare, by the early 20th century A Doll's House became the world's most performed play.

Fantastic, well performed, missing one play
Revisado: 10-27-21
I was really thrilled with the performance of these classics, however, we’ve apparently lost A Dolls House somewhere in the weeds… the other two plays are great, was looking forward to the third…

Historia
James “Cool Papa” Bell (1903-1991) was a legend in Black baseball, a lightning-fast switch hitter elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974. Bell’s speed was extraordinary; as Satchel Paige famously quipped, he was so fast he could flip a light switch and be in bed before the room got dark. In The Bona Fide Legend of Cool Papa Bell, experienced baseball writer and historian Lonnie Wheeler recounts the life of this extraordinary player, a key member of some of the greatest Negro League teams in history.

Overall great book
Revisado: 08-24-21
A well assembled book putting together lots of source information to paint a portrait of a champion of baseball. Great insight into baseball in an era of exclusion. It will make you want to read more about the times, the players and the milestone events and situations mentioned.
Fans of baseball and sport overall will enjoy this story.

Historia
Arkady and Boris Strugatsky are widely considered the greatest of Russian science fiction masters, yet the novel they worked hardest on, the one that was their own favorite and that listeners worldwide have acclaimed their magnum opus, has never before been published in English. The Doomed City was so politically risky that the Strugatskys kept its existence a secret even from their closest friends for 16 years. It was only published in Russia during perestroika in the late 1980s, the last of their works to see publication.

Only thing lacking is consistent titles
Revisado: 03-23-18
The acting is excellent. The quality is amazing as usual for these BBC programs. The only thing I thought was lacking was that a few of the stories are not introduced well. I am aware that these were produced as dramas and there is different production across titles. For the money, for the over all quality and massively enjoyable 35hrs+ ...a bargain.
