Historia
From executive producers of The Walking Dead and Travis Beacham, the writer of Pacific Rim, comes a heart-stopping Audible Original featuring a brilliant British cast. It’s the near future and seven years since a comet hit the earth and blotted out the sun. The world is a dark, frozen landscape. And then, beastly creatures emerge and take over. A story of apocalypse, horror, and adventure, Impact Winter is a wholly original new saga created just for Audible with immersive 3D audio that dares you to pop in your earbuds and listen in the dark.

Brilliant! Can’t wait for the sequel!

The sound effects were so real that I was looking around me when I was outside listening because I wasn’t sure if a sound was in the story or actually nearby.

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Needs to be a STEM curriculum!
Revisado: 08-14-21
I loved this book! I am not a STEM expert in the least but all I could think was how amazing and engaging a comprehensive science class would be if it followed this book as a guide to learning throughout the year. Algebra, geometry, trig, physics, chemistry, biology, engineering can all be covered using examples from the book, following the protagonist through his thought processes. Not just that, politics, climate change, sociology, language, culture, and a host of other really important topics for critical analysis are interspersed in this novel. Bonus, it’s hilarious and completely PG. No swearing, “drugs are bad” messages delivered with humor and not lecture, yet enough juicy bits to keep high schoolers engaged. Someone please turn this into a school science curriculum!
Also the narrator Ray Porter did an amazing job on the audio version. Highly recommend listening to it. Bravo!

A must-read for 21st century teaching
Revisado: 08-05-21
As a child, the most advanced technology I used was a black and white TV with a dial to change the channel (3 total) that we had to get up off the couch to turn with our hands. We organized our lives around pre-set schedules of TV shows or visits with friends we could only coordinate via landline telephone and couldn’t cancel on a whim with a text message. In a half a lifetime, our world has completely and drastically transformed thanks to exponential technological advances. Many of today’s teachers grew up with an experience similar to mine. We now need to relearn HOW kids of today are learning and how we can help empower them to sort through the infinite data at their fingertips and find their passion in life. We are in a massive age of creation and every kid has an inner genius that can be unlocked with some tweaks to our existing process of teaching. This book helps guide teachers to guide students in their ultimate journey to realizing their full potential in career and in life. I wish every one of my kids’ teachers would read this book.

Historia
In the year 2018, it seems as if women’s anger has suddenly erupted into the public conversation. But long before this, women’s anger was not only politically catalytic - but politically problematic. With eloquence and fervor, Rebecca tracks the history of female anger as political fuel - from suffragettes chaining themselves to the White House to office workers vacating their buildings after Clarence Thomas was confirmed to the Supreme Court. She deconstructs society’s (and the media’s) condemnation of female emotion (notably, rage) and the impact of resulting repercussions.

THE most important read of 2018!!
Traister’s refreshingly intersectional lens gives perspective and voice to a diverse swath of the femme experience with anger and action.
