Historia
This illuminating study explores the ways in which the shattering defeat of the Japanese in World War II, followed by over six years of American military occupation, affected every level of Japanese society. The author describes the countless ways in which the Japanese met the challenge of "starting over", from top-level manipulations concerning the fate of Emperor Hirohito to the hopes, fears, and activities of ordinary men and women in every walk of life.

Essential material disastrously delivered
Revisado: 05-23-22
While I appreciate the material the author attempted to convey, it was terribly organized, and trying to listen to the reader was a horrid experience. Somnambulant at best, and often cringe-worthy mispronounced words, trying to absorb data even from an academic perspective was impossible.

Historia
The colossal scale of World War II required a mobilization effort greater than anything attempted in all of the world's history. The United States had to fight a war across two oceans and three continents - and to do so it had to build and equip a military that was all but nonexistent before the war began. Never in the nation's history did it have to create, outfit, transport, and supply huge armies, navies, and air forces on so many distant and disparate fronts. The Axis powers might have fielded better trained soldiers, better weapons, better tanks and aircraft.

Critical material, terrible narrator.
Revisado: 03-31-21
An absolute must have. However, you have to deal with the performer. He speaks too quickly, and mispronounces EVERYTHING. The book is still worth it.

Historia
The Declaration of Independence is one of the most pivotal documents in Western history, along with the Magna Carta and Emancipation Proclamation. Almost 250 years after the founding fathers signed the Declaration and heralded the birth of the United States, the story of how America overthrew the British is as meaningful today as when the ink was still wet on the page. This audiobook explains the story of every major military action with comprehensive timelines for every stage of the Revolutionary War.

Historia
World History of Warfare covers worldwide military history from ancient times to the present and is designed for college courses. Its principal theme is an exploration of change and continuity, revolution and tradition, in three thousand years of warfare. It teaches students and general listeners how warfare evolved and how that evolution affected human society, with emphasis on major turning points in the conduct of warfare rather than a superficial general history of wars.

Great content. Frustrating performance.
Revisado: 06-19-20
The content of the book is critical for a good foundation in military history. However, the performer so often, and so frustratingly, mispronounced common words. I nearly lost the ability to finish the book.
