Historia
In 2059, two vastly different groups of people portrayed by the compelling trio of Brendan Fraser (Academy Award winner), Luke Kirby (Emmy Award winner), and Vanessa Sears (Dora Award winner) undergo cryonic suspension. While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Go woke, go broke
Revisado: 02-02-25
I listen to audiobooks to get away from daily life, but being pounded in the ears with the same ole crap that is on mainstream media really is not my idea of getting away. The story starts out amazing and interesting but only to get into the tired argument of gender, world ending war but in a way that is insulting. Glad it was a free book but even then my time is worth more. I will skip this author in the future.

Can't finish it, HORRIBLE narrator
Revisado: 08-18-15
Would you try another book from Craig DiLouie and/or Peter Ganim?
The story concept sounds good, I was very interested in listening to this but after listening to the narrator for 40 min, I can't, can't do anymore. I'm sorry. I never leave bad reviews, I just figure people should listen to the sample to make sure they can handle it.
Would you recommend The Infection to your friends? Why or why not?
Not with this narrator, not right now.
Would you be willing to try another one of Peter Ganim’s performances?
NO
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
It's not the book, this time only the narrator. Sorry!

Confusing at times, makes up in the end.
Revisado: 11-15-14
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I consider most audiobooks to be worth my time, only once have I stopped part way through. I've found even if a book starts out slow or in this case confusing, it ends up being well worth the time, as this one was.
Would you ever listen to anything by TW Brown again?
I've seen in other reviews that book 2 is much better than 1, and the characters become more cemented, I hope so, as I'm going to give it a try.
Was DEAD: The Ugly Beginning worth the listening time?
I have less than an hour left, and I will say yes, it was worth my time. I was not so sure when it started, so if you are reading this wondering if it's worth it, yes, it is, if you are into the Zombie genre. Be warned there are some violent scenes, rapes, etc, I could have done without the detail in these, but it's the end of the world, so I guess it's relevant.
Any additional comments?
I'm trying book 2, jury is still out on the others in this series and whether I will listen. I was extremely confused through the first 3/4 of this book. Rewinding many times to "figure out" who and what was going on. Too many characters, or maybe a lack of separation. Some books I've listened too like this will name their chapters by the characters names, or at least some division, this jumped around a ton and had me lost on more than one occasion.
