Everyone, dog lover or not, can enjoy this trilogy
Revisado: 02-05-25
First up, the narrator was simply amazing. There were many major and almost major characters, and everyone had a distinct character and voice. Second, the whole trilogy is available right now, meaning you don't have to wait a year or more to get to the next book.
Third, they're good, action packed Science Fiction, that easily earn a place on your shelf or in your Audible library.
Fourth, I'm hoping for other books in the future continuing their adventures... and I'm sure I'm not the only one... Woof

Excellent dive into the science of today's tec
Revisado: 08-03-21
In easy to understand language, the authors begin at the beginning of the research that has led to today's smartphones, computers, tablets and more. as an example, the TV technology that I grew up with in the 50s and 60s have a direct link to today's flat screen devices. Plus, they give a nuanced look at where the future might take us at the end of their great book. I recommend this book to anyone that ever wondered what's inside their smartphone or computer or ever wondered where this technology came from

Excellent Book on the inventors & the times
Revisado: 04-25-20
The author's research is truly phenomenal. Listening to her detailed description of people, places, events and inventions is close to being there as it happened. It's amazing how fast the book goes as there's so much going on. Plus, it's far from dry as she brings the history to life in vivid, electrical detail. sorry about that, just had to say it. Now on to the reason many of the audio book reviews look negative. The narrator has a different way of ending his sentences than I'm used to, but he's not at all difficult to understand. Add to that the power of the book itself and I quickly got so wrapped in the book that the narration faded into the back ground. I especially recommend the book to history lovers like myself

A vital listen with the Corona Virus 😷 in the new
Revisado: 03-05-20
This was an easy to listen to book. You don't need any special knowledge to understand it. However, it has some sobering information to impart. Through the author's experience working for the CDC you'll learn how unprepared any country is for a pandemic, even first world countries like the U. S. You're also going to learn how politics can make every pandemic much worse. The narration is awesome and as you're washing your hands to help prevent the Corona Virus infection this is an excellent book to listen to

We all know that without water we couldn't survive, and that sometimes a cup of coffee or a glass of wine feels just as vital. But do we really understand how much we rely on liquids, or the destructive power they hold? Set over the course of a flight from London to San Francisco, Liquid Rules offers listeners a fascinating tour of these formless substances, told through the language of molecules, droplets, heartbeats, and ocean waves.

Amazing Liquids
Revisado: 08-15-19
Just as interesting as Stuff Matters, but mostly wet. Great narrator too. I like Science books quite a bit, but this, like Stuff Matters, is filled with the author's funny encounters with various liquids and understandable fairly deep insights into the liquids we use almost everyday, which takes this book beyond many science books for the layperson Besides, I'm never going to look at a bottle of liquid hand soap in the same way again

On Monday, December 3, 1917, the French freighter SS Mont-Blanc set sail from Brooklyn carrying the largest cache of explosives ever loaded onto a ship, including 2,300 tons of picric acid, an unstable, poisonous chemical more powerful than TNT.

A tragic but also very hopeful book
Revisado: 03-27-19
Excellent research. Riveting Writing/Performance Opens with the foibles and blindness to possible tragedy that all humanity suffers from. Describes in detail how real people dealt with the biggest human made explosion in history up to that point in time. Describes how when everything is gone humans are basically good, caring and wanting to help others. Left me feeling that we still have hope to return to less hateful, polarized times. I'm just praying it doesn't take a terrible tragic event to get us there

When a renegade necromancer wrenches him from eternal slumber and into a world gone terribly, bizarrely wrong, all Jim wants is to find a way to die properly, once and for all. On his side, he's got a few shambling corpses, an inept thief, and a powerful death wish. But he's up against tough odds....

V. S. Ramachandran is at the forefront of his field - so much so that Richard Dawkins dubbed him the "Marco Polo of neuroscience". Now, in a major new work, Ramachandran sets his sights on the mystery of human uniqueness. Taking us to the frontiers of neurology, he reveals what baffling and extreme case studies can teach us about normal brain function and how it evolved.

Excellent and understandable book
Revisado: 08-06-18
There is nothing more intimate or close to us and who we are then our own brain. In his book, The Tell Tale Brain, Dr. Ramachandran takes the listener on a tour of what could be called our most important and mysterious organ. He explores cutting edge research that brings insight into both how and why our brains work the way they do and he even looks to the future in brain research. I found the book very understandable, even though I have no medical background, other than my own and my family's health, to fall back on. I also found the accompanying PDF file of the illustrations to be most helpful

Somehow Horror & Mystery is better when listening
Revisado: 04-02-18
Would you consider the audio edition of Inner Sanctum Mysteries to be better than the print version?
These are full production radio plays from the 1940's and early 1950's. This was the time, mostly before TV, when radio was king. The voice acting is excellent and the stories can stick with you. There is really no print version available except when they adapt short stories and the like
What was one of the most memorable moments of Inner Sanctum Mysteries?
There are some excellent, read scary, moments to be had within these radio plays
Any additional comments?
I've found classic radio to be a wonderful source of entertainment and this collection is a good place to start
