I'm a novice in every sense of the term. I was opened up to the idea by a sub, whom I've now parted ways with. Beyond the sense of the scenes and forms of play, this has actually opened my eyes to whom I wish to be. As its said several times, anyone one can tie someone up or crack a whip (probably not well at that) but being a dom, is significantly more than that, and my preconceived notions were verified by this.
For someone new, such as myself, theres a lot. But for good reason. Read or listen, and understand what's being illustrated here, nothing happens instantaneously, but with the right tools and patience... you'd be surprised.
Overall the book itself was wonderful, content really had me engaged, and the narrator was phenomenal.
