The best ending ever
Revisado: 03-17-24
No spoilers but this ending was better than I could have imagined. I’m always sad when a series wraps up but this was the best way one possibly could.

We need the third book!
Revisado: 03-16-24
My favorite cozy mystery writer! Her second series. The first one was great and this one is infused with a mystical dimension as well. I’m waiting on the edge of my seat for a third book!

Historia
Addie's getting into the spirit for the upcoming Charity Auction - especially since she's got an 1843 copy of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol to donate. Her former colleagues at the Boston Public Library have confirmed that its worth runs toward the high five figures, which should help with the new pediatric wing. Her mood darkens, though, when a visitor from the past appears - Jonathan Hemingway, the father of her late fiance. His presence stirs up sad memories for Addie, but also has her fuming when Jonathan runs off for a lunchtime liaison with Teresa Lang.

Great story questionable narrator. Listen in order.
Revisado: 12-17-23
I listened to the books in order and from other reviews that sounds like it was a good choice. This narrator was different and made the grandfather sound kind of creepy which is unfortunate.

Shit, Actually is a love letter and a breakup note all in one: to the films that shaped us and the ones that ruined us. More often than not, Lindy finds, they're one and the same.

Watching the movies mentioned is not a prerequisite!
Revisado: 10-25-20
I don’t watch movies and got this book because I will consume anything Lindy West is involved in and somehow missed that it was about movies. First two sentences I though “shit, actually...maybe this book isn’t for me” glad I didn’t turn it off (tbh I was riding my bike and can’t mess with my phone without crashing yet) because it was amazing like everything else Lindy West does. Congrats on another book, please write more. And maybe come our gay wedding and be our officiant? ❤️

Historia
Shrill is an uproarious memoir, a feminist rallying cry in a world that thinks gender politics are tedious and that women, especially feminists, can't be funny. Coming of age in a culture that demands women be as small, quiet, and compliant as possible - like a porcelain dove that will also have sex with you - writer and humorist Lindy West quickly discovered that she was anything but. With inimitable good humor, vulnerability, and boundless charm, Lindy boldly shares how to survive in a world where not all stories are created equal.

Important read
Revisado: 06-14-20
Initially I didn’t connect with with book as someone that has never been considered fat however it did help me empathize with others in my life who are or see themselves that way. I did connect with the last few chapters on a more personal level and am walking away from this book feeling better and like I’ve learned. Like Lindy West’s other book, I highly recommend.

This book was at least 7 hours longer than it needed to be. Probably an interesting and important story but hard to tell when the author and voice actor both sound like a 40 year old washed up frat boy.
