Agonizing and self indulgent
Revisado: 01-14-25
Someone needs to edit this book as if it were the first edition. After five editions, it appears the author can’t help but add more and more self indulgent stories into this book. It’s like no one has read the book with fresh eyes in many years. It is so repetitive, so full of random anecdotes, that I find it one of the most agonizing audiobooks I’ve ever listened to. The kernel of a great book is in here somewhere, and it teaches good lessons. If you found E Myth agonizing to listen to with Sarah’s cupcakes, this book might be even worse. What is the deal with authors writing about systems, that causes them to write the least systematic and most all-over-the-place books of all time?

Sales is a skill anyone can learn and master - and introverts are especially good at it once they learn how to leverage their natural strengths. Introverts aren't comfortable with traditional tactics like aggressively pushing a product or talking over a customer's objections. That's the beauty of The Introvert's Edge: it doesn't focus on the sale itself but on a sales system that helps introverts feel sincere instead of sales-y.

Not related to introverts
Revisado: 01-22-21
This was a typical scammy sales book. It claims it’s for introverts who don’t like to lie and deceive. Then it proceeds to teach the most scammy old school sales techniques like “assuming the close.” The author recommends that you don’t actually ask a prospect if they want to buy, but instead ask them to to get their wallets so you can begin filling out the paperwork (simplified summary). I’m not sure what this had to do with introverts, and I will not be taking any of these tips.

Basically a sales letter pretending to be a book
Revisado: 10-13-20
Like lots of books these days, this book seems like a sales letter for more expensive courses. The author gives listeners a discount code to sign up for a free course. From that free course you can pay prices like $600 to watch a course on “video prospecting.”
Really? After listening to your 11 hour audiobook I’m still supposed to pay $600 to figure out how to do something as simple as video prospecting?
I wanted an audiobook that would quickly tell me the tools and concepts I need for virtual sales. But this author has spun off an entire business selling courses on how to do this stuff instead of given you the necessary information in this book.

Lots of bad advice
Revisado: 09-03-19
Some of this book’s advice might be useful if you’re in the unfortunate position of only being able to attract immature women.
But the advice is terrible if you want to date an emotionally mature woman and have a healthy relationship. For example: “Never apologize. Never explain yourself.” If you never apologize to your girlfriend, she’ll never apologize to you. Simple as that. You’ll just play stupid immature games with each other and exist in a constant struggle.
All of the case studies in this book share dialogue from couples that sound extremely immature. The dialogue reminds me of the relationships I had when I was in my early 20s (aka, extremely immature and full of dumb power games).
Also the advice on “dread” is stupid, abusive, and won’t work for very long. If you take this book’s advice and leave town for a week while refusing to tell your girlfriend where you’re going or with whom, yes she might freak out and have sex with you more often in the short term (wahoo!), but it’s also going to encourage her to start leaving town without telling you where she’s going. What are you going to do then??? If you try to make it seem like you’re cheating on your girlfriend, she’s going to be very willing to cheat on you in return! And once she does, readers of this book will run crying to a manosphere forum and whine about how evil women are.
I would title this book “how to date immature women and beat them at their own game.”
Two stars instead of just one because a few pieces of advice are good. Good advice on becoming attractive with weight lifting and fashion, and I liked the chapter about how relations need space, and how only our mothers love us unconditionally.
