Historia
The year is 1878, peak of the Texas cattle trade. The place is Dodge City, Kansas, a saloon-filled cow town jammed with liquored-up adolescent cowboys and young Irish hookers. Violence is random and routine, but when the burned body of a mixed-blood boy named Johnnie Sanders is discovered, his death shocks a part-time policeman named Wyatt Earp. And it is a matter of strangely personal importance to Doc Holliday, the frail 26-year-old dentist who has just opened an office at No. 24, Dodge House.

Wonderful book and Audible edition
Revisado: 01-24-23
Russell's writing is fantastic and the Audible narration brings it to life. There are a few accent stumbles but nothing overly distracting.

Historia
Polly, Annie, Elizabeth, Catherine, and Mary-Jane are famous for the same thing, though they never met. What they had in common was the year of their murders: 1888. The person responsible was never identified, but the character created by the press to fill that gap has become far more famous than any of these five women. For more than a century, newspapers have been keen to tell us that "the Ripper" preyed on prostitutes. Not only is this untrue, as historian Hallie Rubenhold has discovered, but it has prevented the real stories of these fascinating women from being told.

For a complete understanding use a dictionary
Revisado: 08-16-22
Thorough academic study of the five women who were murdered in 1888. My only caveat is there is no explanation of some uniquely British terms, which necessitated pausing the narrative, jotting down what I thought I heard and then look it up online. (My mother was English so I had a background in British colloquialisms yet still was pausing a good bit). Had I not understood the terms much of the book's impact would have been lost to me.
Definitely a book for our age as much of what the five endured continues in the present day.

Intriguing revision of Holmes and Moriarty stories

Excellent writing and great voice castings. If you like Sherlock Holmes, and don't mind old tales being revised, you'll enjoy this.

Historia
Here is a timeless tale of waterside Britain that has been loved by generations of children and acclaimed as a classic. The story of Mole, Ratty, Badger, and Toad, and their escapades, whether messing about on the river or poop-pooping in Toad's shiny new car, cannot fail to enchant.

Swashbuckling classic adventure, with an updated twist placing Milady in the role of narrator. Young D'Artagnan arrives in Paris to join the King's elite guards but almost immediately finds he is duelling with some of the very men he has come to swear allegiance to - Porthos, Athos and Aramis, inseparable friends: the Three Musketeers. Soon part of their close band, D'Artagnan's loyalty to his new allies puts him in the deadly path of Cardinal Richlieu's machinations.

I really wanted to like this...
Revisado: 04-15-22
I couldn't make it to the end. I love the original novel and thought this dramatic adaptation might be fun. I really wanted to like it but too many modernizations to the story and language killed it for me. The voice actors were very good and this adapted version might be enjoyed by someone not familiar with Dumas' books.

If you don't have time for the 48 chapter course this one is a good introduction. I started with the 48 chapter course then started this one and most if not all of the information in the short course is covered in the more intensive course.

Historia
Ancient Egyptian civilization is so grand our minds sometimes have difficulty adjusting to it. It lasted 3,000 years, longer than any other on the planet. Its Great Pyramid of Cheops was the tallest building in the world until well into the 19th century and remains the only Ancient Wonder still standing. And it was the most technologically advanced of the ancient civilizations, with the medical knowledge that made Egyptian physicians the most famous in the world.
