Historia
Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

Historia
Miranda July’s second novel confirms the brilliance of her unique approach to fiction. With July’s wry voice, perfect comic timing, unabashed curiosity about human intimacy, and palpable delight in pushing boundaries, All Fours tells the story of one woman’s quest for a new kind of freedom. Part absurd entertainment, part tender reinvention of the sexual, romantic, and domestic life of a forty-five-year-old female artist, All Fours transcends expectation while excavating our beliefs about life lived as a woman.

Story line got lost.
Revisado: 12-27-24
I don't care if a character is gay, leabian, trans, or you want to be a bit feminist or progressive, but this story was trying too hard on all fronts for me. The story line got lost for me because of it.

Heartbreaking & Heartwarming
Revisado: 07-19-24
This book had me on a roller-coaster of emotions throughout. Kristan Hannah made me feel the joy, pain, heartbreak, hope, devastation, and so many more emotions Frankie felt. I like that Vietnam wasn't sugar-coated, and the homecoming storyline was realistic, and I learned so much about the reality of life for our Vietnam vets. I always say if a book can make me cry it isn't a good book it's a great book because I read and listen to books everyday, so a book has to be great to suck me in, this book had me in tears more than once.

Historia
With courage, grace, and powerful insight, bestselling author Kristin Hannah captures the epic panorama of World War II and illuminates an intimate part of history seldom seen: the women's war. The Nightingale tells the stories of two sisters, separated by years and experience, by ideals, passion and circumstance, each embarking on her own dangerous path toward survival, love, and freedom in German-occupied, war-torn France—a heartbreakingly beautiful novel that celebrates the resilience of the human spirit and the durability of women. It is a novel for everyone, a novel for a lifetime.

Heart Touching
Revisado: 06-28-24
I listen to a lot of WWII historical fiction, and love so many of them, but this book touched me in a deeper way then most. I haven't cried so many times listening to a book ever. I felt the pain of the characters, the happiness, and the anger. The author has an amazing way of reaching the reader.

Didn't Want to Put it Down
Revisado: 01-12-23
I listened to the audiobook, and it was great! It was the first book in a long time that I didn't want to stop listening to, I kept my ear bud in at home and kept it going as much as possible with 4 kids running around. Great storyline, beautiful characters, and a lesson in acceptance.

A Twist I Didn't See Coming!

This was a great book. I love it when you're going down one path with a storyline or character and the author completely twists something without me seeing it coming.

Best Book of my Summer!
Revisado: 09-08-22
I listened to a lot of audiobooks on my commute, and while chasing my 4 boys around at home. This book was the 1st one in a long time that I didn't want to stop listening to, and had my full attention. The storyline was great, the length was on point, the characters were easy to relate to, and the narrator was perfect. I loved it!

The story line was great

I really loved the story line, the narrator, the different characters and how it all came together. The ending was really abrupt though. I thought it would continue and give more closure for the characters.

Historia
Investigative journalist Laura Chambers is back in her tiny hometown of Hillsborough, North Carolina, the one place she swore never to return. Fired from The Boston Globe, her career in shambles, she reluctantly takes a job with the local paper. The work is simple, unimportant, and worst of all, boring - at least until a missing girl turns up dead, the body impeccably clean, dressed to be the picture of innocence. Years earlier, 10-year-old Patty Finch left home and never made it back. But for the people of Hillsborough, Patty was just the beginning.
