Historia
Vincent Di Maio, MD, son of a famous New York City medical examiner, is one of the lions of forensic science. In this clear, gritty, and enthralling narrative, Di Maio himself guides us into the inner sanctum, through the cases that have made him famous, from the exhumation of assassin Lee Harvey Oswald and the racially charged shooting of Florida teen Trayvon Martin to the unmasking of a serial baby killer and the mysterious death of troubled genius Vincent van Gogh.

DNF- author seems very biased
Revisado: 04-16-25
I don’t typically DNF.. I started this book and getting through the first case, the Trayvon Martin case, was ROUGH. I kept thinking maybe the author was going to just talks from both perspectives as he described the case but… that didn’t happen really. Over all the writing came across very biased and, frankly, racist.
After doing some more reading of reviews from people that bit the bullet and finished the read, I gather the racist comments and leanings did not improve and for that reason I’m just saying no thank you to spending more time on this and shelving it.

Ten years after graduation, Jessica Miller has planned her triumphant return to her Southern, elite Duquette University, down to the envious whispers that are sure to follow in her wake. Everyone is going to see the girl she wants them to see - confident, beautiful, indifferent. Not the girl she was when she left campus, back when Heather Shelby's murder fractured everything, including the tight bond linking the six friends she'd been closest to since freshman year.

Morality?
Revisado: 04-11-24
I give this a solid 4 stars. I’m not going to pretend like I don’t find the main character insufferable- but that’s kind of the point. It’s worth listening to her prattle about being perfect for half the book.
The way the last chapter highlights that there is not just good and bad was a good little wrap on such a twisty story.

A thrilling ride
Revisado: 04-09-24
Rounding up from a 4.5 here, but this book was very good. There was suspense, multi layered mystery, subterfuge, & a nice quick pace. I found the characters dimensional and interesting. I did make a firm guess of the antagonists true identity about half way through but there was enough uncertainty for it to be a thrilling reveal still.
Definitely pick this one up!

Heartbreaking and raw
Revisado: 11-15-23
We finally get to hear Brittneys perspective. I love that she got to share her voice and her story. Do I think there is possibly more that she didn’t write about? Yes. Do I think we need to know about it? No, I don’t. Unless she wants to share.
More than anything this book highlights how little power women in the industry have, and how much they have to fight.
I wish Brittney all the best, and as much happiness as she can get. Definitely read this, it will make you think.

Historia
In the lands of Bethel, where the Prophet's word is law, Immanuelle Moore's very existence is blasphemy. Her mother's union with an outsider of a different race cast her once-proud family into disgrace, so Immanuelle does her best to worship the Father, follow Holy Protocol, and lead a life of submission, devotion, and absolute conformity, like all the other women in the settlement. But a mishap lures her into the forbidden Darkwood surrounding Bethel, where the first prophet once chased and killed four powerful witches.

As she gets to know the residents and staff of the Bartholomew, Jules finds herself drawn to fellow apartment sitter Ingrid. An okay read
Revisado: 10-08-22
I’d score the story a 3.5 really, not a 3. It was an okay read. I liked it, didn’t love it. For me it didn’t have that immediate grab of “omg I have to finish this asap”, so maybe a slower burn? Which I don’t mind personally. There was one but that did make my eyes roll, but I’m not the type to not finish a book. I’m glad I stuck around because the conclusion ended up being far more interesting than what the main character thought it was.
I’d recommend it as a casual read. But wouldn’t tell you to stop everything and read it right now!

An intriguing story
Revisado: 10-06-22
This was a nice read. I enjoyed the characters of Michael and Marie very much, and there was a certain Mayberry charm to the setting.
I wish, personally, that there were more of Marie's details shared, but I think it fits the character of Michael not to include all the gory bits into his story.

Historia
From New York Times best-selling author Stephen Graham Jones comes a novel that is equal parts psychological horror and cutting social commentary on identity politics and the American-Indian experience. Fans of Jordan Peele and Tommy Orange will love this story as it follows the lives of four American-Indian men and their families, all haunted by a disturbing, deadly event that took place in their youth. Years later, they find themselves tracked by an entity bent on revenge, totally helpless as the culture and traditions they left behind catch up to them in a vengeful way.

A wild, psychological ride
Revisado: 10-05-22
I don't spook easy, but coming home 1/3 of the way into this book at night I had to ask my husband to come out and turn the lights on. Something about the tone and flow of the story had my hair on end.
I love the psychological aspect of this book, the bit of guessing whether or not something is actually going on or just in someone's head.
The perspective shifts through the different characters as the story progresses in a way that supports the narrative rather than twisting it needlessly.
I'm walking away from this one a bit contemplative, and also eager to read other works from this author.

I didn't want to stop listening to this one. Viewing from behind the eyes of a psychopath, and idea that would terrify a majority of people, was endlessly fascinating. Plenty of twists and turns and red herrings to keep your mind churning. Definitely recommend.

Historia
If Jen Winston knows one thing for sure, it’s that she’s bisexual. Or wait - maybe she isn’t? Actually, she definitely is. Unless...she’s not? Jen’s provocative, laugh-out-loud debut takes us inside her journey of self-discovery. Greedy follows Jen’s attempts to make sense of herself as she explores the role of the male gaze, what it means to be “queer enough”, and how to overcome bi stereotypes when you’re the posterchild for all of them: greedy, slutty, and constantly confused.

Amazing read
Revisado: 06-17-22
As a bisexual person this book was massively affirming. The struggle with feeling valid enough to take up space in the lgbtqia+ community is something I’ve dealt with through the years, & hearing it discussed and dismantled was refreshing. There isn’t enough bi visibility out there, there isn’t enough content that doesn’t reinforces harmful stereotypes.
But beyond covering the topic of bisexuality, the author also addresses sexual assault, feminism, race issues/anti racism, gender, & so much more. Not only that they check their privilege through out, which is refreshing in and of itself.
