An endearing story of redemption
Revisado: 03-08-25
This was such a great story! I felt such a connection with Kizzy and the others. It reminds me that we serve a God of second chances. It was beautiful to see the redemption and restoration in the story. It had my attention from the first minutes to the end.

Historia
The year is 1901, and the hustle and bustle of the holidays is descending on New York's Fifth Avenue. For the first time in her privileged life, Adelaide Forsythe couldn’t be happier about the prospect of a quiet Christmas. That’s not to say her transition from Missto Mrs. has been without challenge. Though she doesn’t regret marrying for love instead of wealth, she feels woefully unprepared to run her own household. Then, on the first Sunday of Advent, winter winds bring surprising change, first through a young orphan boy and then a seasoned housekeeper who seems too good to be true.

Revisado: 04-28-24
I loved every minute of listening to this story. The characters were vivid and three dimensional. i’ve loved all of the Lynn Austin books that I’ve read, but this was one of my favorites. The narration was excellent! I highly recommend this book.

I learned a lot by seeing the Civil War through the eyes of slaves. The characters were three-dimensional, complicated, and different from one another. The narration was excellent. I really enjoyed all the twist interns in the story

A Beautifully complex story
Revisado: 02-21-24
I absolutely loved this story. The characters became so real to me. The complex issues that both the north and south faced in the Civil War gave me a lot to think about. This book gave me the opportunity to step back in time and experience living through the Civil War myself.

Historia
Behind the men who shaped history are the heroes who forever changed it. In The Prophet, the fourth book in the Sons of Encouragement series, beloved author Francine Rivers illuminates the life of Amos. Francine examines the life of Amos and his relationship to Israel during its prosperous years. Amos' message and his relationship with God made him unpopular. But his challenge to those who were enjoying the blessings of prosperity was crucial then and is strikingly timely today as well.

What an eye opener!
Revisado: 11-09-23
This book changed my understanding and perspective of what life was like during Nazi control of Germany. The characters were so real, the experiences so vivid, that I felt I was living through this scary, difficult time along with them. It made me realize that we must value and protect our freedoms and the rights of all citizens, even those we disagree with, because history has a way of repeating itself.

Interesting but ot my favorite
Revisado: 11-08-23
I've read 3 other Kelly Rimmer books and absolutely loved them, all WW2 novels. My problem with this book is that it seemed to push a certain agenda concerning abortion to the point that the theme of the book seemed to be "abortion saves women". I also found the ending unlikely. But Kelly Rimmer is a gifted writer who makes her characters come alive as she retells historical events. I won't give up on her books.
