Historia
The role of organized religion in our society is undergoing monumental changes. Church attendance is decreasing at unprecedented rates. At the same time, there is an increase in the number of people who identify as “spiritual but not religious.” Clearly, the need for religion remains as strong as ever, yet more and more, people are seeking spirituality elsewhere. Why? What accounts for these trends? Can organized religion still play a valuable role in today’s world?

Hard to listen to
Revisado: 02-17-25
I was excited to read/listen to this book. The flow of the reading is pretty terrible. All the pausing and strange stop and go made this very difficult to listen to and process. It became very distracting. Speeding it way up only helped a tiny bit. Maybe one day I will read it in paper form, but for now the audio has really put me off.

This book is worthless to the story
Revisado: 10-11-24
Why did she have to write a whole book about teenage lust? The amount of actual story in here is maybe three chapter’s worth.
And what the heck happened with the readers!?!? Not a fan of the readers of this book.

Historia
When fifteen-year-old Clary Fray heads out to the Pandemonium Club in New York City, she hardly expects to witness a murder - much less a murder committed by three teenagers covered with strange tattoos and brandishing bizarre weapons. Then the body disappears into thin air. It's hard to call the police when the murderers are invisible to everyone else and when there is nothing - not even a smear of blood - to show that a boy has died. Or was he a boy?

Historia
When beautiful, reckless Southern belle Zelda Sayre meets F. Scott Fitzgerald at a country club dance in 1918, she is seventeen years old and he is a young army lieutenant stationed in Alabama. Before long, the "ungettable" Zelda has fallen for him despite his unsuitability: Scott isn't wealthy or prominent or even a Southerner, and keeps insisting, absurdly, that his writing will bring him both fortune and fame. Her father is deeply unimpressed.

Revisado: 07-05-24
Great reader! Loved the writing. Such depressing people- their lives were train wrecks. It was nice to have a glimpse into what Zelda’s life could have been like, even though it was fictionalized.

Great story, terrible narrator!
Revisado: 07-19-23
This book was wonderful, real, and raw. It could have been a million times better if somebody with some ability had narrated it… maybe Kathy Bates? Or anybody with some kind of energy in their tone of voice would have been better. Wonderful story though.

Historia
Esme is born into a world of words. Motherless and irrepressibly curious, she spends her childhood in the Scriptorium, an Oxford garden shed in which her father and a team of dedicated lexicographers are collecting words for the very first Oxford English Dictionary. Young Esme’s place is beneath the sorting table, unseen and unheard. One day a slip of paper containing the word bondmaid flutters beneath the table. She rescues the slip and, learning that the word means “slave girl,” begins to collect other words discarded or neglected by the dictionary men.

I will share this book with anyone and everyone I know who is a reader. This book is a testimony of miracles and all that can be accomplished when we seek to fulfill the will of God through faith. We must utilize the atonement our Savior has so freely given us to lift and heal those around us. Thank you for sharing your learning and experience for others to be inspired anew to give all they have to the service of others. Thank you.

Historia
The Call of the Wild is a tale of instincts and wilderness, man and wild, work and loyalty. Written and published by Jack London in the early 1900s, the novel has become one of the pinnacles of American literature, as it details the sheer willpower and stamina at the heart of the country during the Klondike Gold Rush of the 1890s. The main character is a large dog named Buck who is stolen and sold to dog traders where he is forced to work during the madness that is the Gold Rush.

Narrator is terrible
Revisado: 08-25-17
I like this book, I know it is a good book. I want my children to know this book, but unfortunately this narrator reads with such monotone that I don't even want to listen. I won't even try to force my kids to listen either. Is there a way I can get my money back so I can purchase a different audio of this book?
