way too long
Revisado: 10-26-23
pretty well written, but there are so many unnecessary sub stories that go on and on. the beginning is very cute, about their meeting and falling in love, but it's mainly depressing about their strained relationship more than anything. there are so many long chapters about each of their horrible childhoods. most of the book goes on about their families being terrible with their emotional abuse, when a sister died they say, "it should have been you", or when she beat her dad in a simple tennis game in front of his friends he broke her nose with a racket. there are hours and hours of family history all to explain how terrible the entire family history is. not a fun book, not especially interesting.

Historia
In the woods where human lands meet fae, an ancient king born before the history of men finds a dying baby. Iohmar will take in the child and care for him until a suitable home in the human realm is found. But best laid plans often go awry in the lands of Látwill, where winds carry fae across the star-strewn sky, the woods ensnare the weak-minded with their sinister song, and even Iohmar, King Beneath the Earth, is susceptible to the will of the immortal mountains.

No spoilers, really enjoyed the characters. Some reviews I read reviled a major part of the story - be careful. Narration was very well done.
Looking forward to other books by this wonderful author.

Few books have captivated the imagination and won the devotion and praise of readers and critics everywhere as has George R. R. Martin’s monumental epic cycle of high fantasy that began with A Game of Thrones. Now, in A Feast for Crows, Martin delivers the long-awaited fourth book of his landmark series, as a kingdom torn asunder finds itself at last on the brink of peace . . . only to be launched on an even more terrifying course of destruction.

Worst narration ever
Revisado: 09-09-21
Everyone reviewing these books says the same thing, great stories, horrible narration. He reads fine, but his voices are ALL SOOOOOOO TERRIBLE!!! Thousands of listeners all agree. Audible needs to re-record the entire series. By now, if you've made it this far into the series you must like the story, so the only review is about how awful it is listening to this man for hundreds of hours.

Historia
Winter is coming. Such is the stern motto of House Stark, the northernmost of the fiefdoms that owe allegiance to King Robert Baratheon in far-off King's Landing. There Eddard Stark of Winterfell rules in Robert's name. Far to the north, behind the towering Wall, lie savage Wildings and worse - unnatural things relegated to myth during the centuries-long summer, but proving all too real and all too deadly in the turning of the season. Yet a more immediate threat lurks to the south, where Jon Arryn, the Hand of the King, has died under mysterious circumstances....

Don't Know How I Feel About This One...

Nothing redeeming
Revisado: 06-12-21
The men are pigs. They are lazy. They cheat. Only the 1 older lawyer was a good person. The writing and structure were fine. I guess because the book made me feel, perhaps for that reason you might say it was well done. But there is no "story", and nothing redeeming about the whole thing. They are not heros as the details say. They are all flawed, like every person. This book only shows you the bad.

Well done / gross content
Revisado: 06-05-21
The book was well written & narration was great... but this story just wasn't for me. Very graphic rape of young boys, depressing characters & no real redemption made this book a struggle for me. Listened to the whole book to learn "who done it" & was not satisfied.

The title of the review says everything you need to know about the story. You always know what's going to happen. The bad guy keeps coming back when you "think" he's dead. The main character keeps making the same lame type of decisions. When they need to run they sit and argue instead. Etc, etc, etc...
