Historia
One man—visionary billionaire restaurant chain magnate T. R. Schmidt, Ph.D.—has a Big Idea for reversing global warming, a master plan perhaps best described as “elemental.” But will it work? Ranging from the Texas heartland to the Dutch royal palace in the Hague, from the snow-capped peaks of the Himalayas to the sunbaked Chihuahuan Desert, Termination Shock brings together a disparate group of characters from different cultures and continents who grapple with the real-life repercussions of global warming.

Shockingly weak
Revisado: 02-27-25
Probably NS weakest entry to date. Starting to look like his best books are behind him.

Who is this made for?
Revisado: 08-26-24
I’ve read pulp fiction novels that understood tactical maneuver, equipment use, and recent government history better than this book. I’m sure there was a message but it was lost to the numerous strawmen with little internal motivation. At least “ghost ship” had a compelling reason for war between super powers.

Excellent Sheep takes a sharp look at the high-pressure conveyor belt that begins with parents and counselors who demand perfect grades and culminates in the skewed applications Deresiewicz saw firsthand as a member of Yale's admissions committee. As schools shift focus from the humanities to "practical" subjects like economics and computer science, students are losing the ability to think in innovative ways.

Intellectually underwhelming
Revisado: 10-13-21
It may have been a little preconceived but i expected a lot out of this book and it was a little disappointing. I think that it is a utopian view of how society could be if we funneled all our money into education and ignored everything else. He addresses meritocracy and the issues that come with but i think he cuts it a little short for the importance it has for his message. I highly suggest to read meritocracy trap and any jordan peterson book to round out the info you get from this book. Overall i think it’s a good read but felt a little shallow and incomplete

Historia
A scathing, sardonic exploration of Silicon Valley tech culture, laying bare the greed, hubris, and retrograde politics of an industry that aspires to radically transform society for its own benefit. This enlightening audiobook is a must-listen for anyone interested or involved in the tech industry. At the height of the start-up boom, journalist Corey Pein set out for Silicon Valley with little more than a smartphone and his wits. His goal: to learn how such an overhyped industry could possibly sustain itself as long as it has.

monotone reader, biased reporting
Revisado: 02-22-19
The first four hours are fine. The last half reads like a political article on a left leaning news organization. The guy is also the most monotone reader I've heard yet.
