DARK AND TWISTY
Revisado: 03-11-22
loved it, super dark and twisty! loved the story. the sex scenes got to be a bit much, would have been better with a sprinkle here and there instead of a pour but that's my only complaint. worth the read/listen.

In winter, Brianna Concannon's bed-and-breakfast is a cold and empty place. And that's fine with Brianna. She enjoys the peace and quiet, even when icy winds howl at her window. This year, though, she's expecting an unusual guest: mystery writer Grayson Thane, from America. And sometimes a fire can be born in ice.

For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Historia
Jennifer McGaha never expected to own a goat named Merle, or to be rescuing opossums from her barn and calling it "date night." When Jennifer discovered that she and her husband owed back taxes - a lot of back taxes - her world changed. Now desperate to save money, they foreclosed on their beloved suburban home and moved their family to a 100-year-old cabin in a North Carolina holler. Soon enough, Jennifer's life began to more closely resemble the lives of her Appalachian ancestors than the life she experienced in her middle class upbringing.

.....wait for it
Revisado: 09-15-18
it turns out to be a really good book but if you pick this book out for the homesteading aspect or the goats or the chickens then you're going to be waiting quite a while for the author to go through her slightly irrelevant personal experience up until they move to the cabin.
backstory is important but not that much back story.
if you want to get into the meat and potatoes of the book skip to chapter 10 and that's when she gets into the cabin where she finally starts getting animals in a farm and learning about herself etc etc
good performance of the narrator

Colleen does a good job of taking you right into the story you feel as if it's your goats having a fight with worms or getting out of the fence for the 10th time plus there's little Snippets of useful information to the new at goat-ing
