Great book! I enjoyed this book way more than Shadows Rising! The narration was great as well! Patty kept me engaged which is a plus because of my ADHD. It also helps that she does voice Sylvanas in the game. So, it definitely reels me in! As for the story itself, I just noticed I always enjoy Christie Golden’s writing when it comes to WoW books. Truly glad she’s one of the authors Blizzard has. She captures the lore very well.

I found the story to be interesting, but the narrator made it a bit hard to keep up with. At least with my ADHD it did. I thought the reviews about the performance were probably a bit harsh before I started, but soon after I started.. I realized how correct they were. (At least in my honest opinion.)

I’m so glad I got the Audio to this book! Hearing Alex Kingston is always a treat! Especially in regards to the Doctor Who universe as her River Song/Melody Malone character. Hearing her makes the story become much more alive! Loved the production of the audio as well. The snippets of sound effects as a chapter was ending was a nice touch. Loved the over all story & wanted to keep listening to hear what happens next. This was a great audio, a great book, & I hope to hear more from the fabulous Ms. Kingston. 💕

Selena’s Secret was written from the reporter Maria’s experience during the time of Selena fighting for her life from a fatal gunshot wound, the heartbreaking news, when Yolanda locking herself in her truck with her gun, the trial, and on.

I read that other reader’s did not like how Maria sided with Yolanda in this book, but after listening to it myself.. it was clear that Maria did her journalistic duty by remaining as neutral as possible to uncover and report this sad time in our Latin community.

Maria definitely left it in a way that you can still form your own opinion about the matter. Which for most of us.. it is if we dislike Yolanda and/or believe she is guilty. (For me? Yes and YES!)

She remained respectful of the Quintanilla AND Saldívar family. Which I admired because regardless.. these are real families dealing with real heartache. One is forever missing a daughter, sister, and wife. The other is dealing with the public shame a daughter and sister has done.. they might miss having that person in their day to day as well.

Maria did a great job not breaking the “off the record” code with this book. She does not tarnish Selena’s legacy either. Maria even reminds us that we are all human and have made mistakes. Especially being that young. Which I completely agree! 110%

I recommend this book for those who love Selena and want to know about her life.

The only kind of negative thing I can say is that Maria repeats information word to word. It doesn’t happen a lot though. I think I caught it twice. Each time was only a sentence or two. So, it’s not too bad. Just something I noticed.

Overall? Good book that gives you a different perspective during that time.

I loved how Laura told her own story here. If you follow her already, you know she is sober living. This book is her sharing her journey to get there. I have much more respect for Laura. Knowing what she had to go through in life to get to where she is today. I recommend it this book if you don’t mind no filters and just genuineness. Please listen to this audible! It left me wanting to listen to it again and also hoping for a second one.
