Favorite book made new
Revisado: 01-30-13
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, if they like fantasy.
What did you like best about this story?
It's a heroic quest, first of all. It's misterious and compelling, and the characters in the Fellowship are wonderful.
Which scene was your favorite?
Too many to choose.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. When they found Bilbo at Elrond's house. Also when Sam insisted on going into Mordor with Frodo.
Any additional comments?
I've always loved "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy. But to hear it read aloud, and by such a masterful performer, is marvelous. Things I had skipped over, in reading the book, (like the songs and some of the descriptions), came to life in hearing it read aloud.

Great Listen!
Revisado: 11-12-12
Where does Seeing a Large Cat rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
A delightful diversion between other books from other authors.
What did you like best about this story?
The relationship between the Professor and Mrs. Emerson.
The adventures of the young people, kept secret from their elders.
Have you listened to any of Barbara Rosenblat’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
It's wonderful, as always.
"The Last Camel Died At Noon" was performed by someone else, and the performance was such a disappointment compared to Barbara Rosenblat's.
Who was the most memorable character of Seeing a Large Cat and why?
Amelia Peabody Emerson, as always. The main reason, I guess, is that she is the Narrator of the story. Also, her use of the English language is sophisticated and humorous.
Any additional comments?
It's fun to look forward to the next book in the series, especially to learn how Ramses has grown and what he's up to.

Historia
When Mr. Earnshaw brings a black-haired foundling child into his home on the Yorkshire moors, he little imagines the dramatic events which will follow. The passionate relationship between Cathy Earnshaw and the foundling, Heathcliff, is a story of love, hate, pity, and retribution, the effects of which reverberate throughout the succeeding generations.

So much better than the movies
Revisado: 03-27-12
Would you listen to Wuthering Heights again? Why?
Over and over again. It is such a compelling story.
Which character – as performed by Janet McTeer and David Timson – was your favorite?
Heathcliff, definitely.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I was pretty horrified by it. In the films based on this book Heathcliff is presented as lovelorn and obsessed, but in the book he is rather a fiend. The ending was very compelling.

Wonderful Christmas classic!
Revisado: 12-02-09
It is a joy to hear this classic read so beautifully and with an English accent.
It isn't as scary listening to it read as it is in a movie or the dramatization on record that I remember as a child...and then I realized that it doesn't have any scary music in the background!
(smile)
