Don’t Skip This Book!
Revisado: 02-08-23
Oh my gosh. The second was even better than the first. Faizal writes so beautifully. The world building was just enough, the relationships were so deep and complex, and each character was so vivid. A true enemies to lovers with an incredible redemption arc, strong female leads, and a trope or two. ❤️ I can’t say enough good things about it!

Unpacking her belongings in her new hometown of Portland, Oregon, herbalist and reformed alchemist Zoe Faust can't help but notice she's picked up a stowaway. Dorian Robert-Houdin is a living, breathing three-and-half-foot gargoyle - not to mention a master of French cuisine - and he needs Zoe's expertise to decipher a centuries-old text. Zoe, who's trying to put her old life behind her, isn't so sure she wants to reopen her alchemical past... until the dead man on her porch leaves her no choice.

My only complaint…
Revisado: 09-04-22
This book was fun. I liked the story, fell in love with the characters, and truly did enjoy it. The narration was incredible. I just have one complaint… we only need to hear about being vegan once. There were times when I felt like that was the main point of the story. I get that it had a purpose in the plot, but it was too much.

Historia
Looking at real estate isn’t usually a life-or-death situation, but an apartment open house becomes just that when a failed bank robber bursts in and takes a group of strangers hostage. The captives include a recently retired couple who relentlessly hunt down fixer-uppers to avoid the painful truth that they can’t fix their own marriage. There’s a wealthy bank director who has been too busy to care about anyone else and a young couple who are about to have their first child but can’t seem to agree on anything.

Someone is cutting onions again…
Revisado: 02-28-22
This book absolutely destroyed me, but in the best way possible. It’s emotional and exciting. It makes you question your assumptions. It makes you want to love and be loved. I can’t recommend this book enough. As an added bonus, the narration is incredible. Marin’s voice is so smooth and makes you relax, but not so much you become sleepy. 10/10.
