Historia
After seven years of bitter war, the end has come at last for the conflict known infamously as the Horus Heresy. Terra now lies within the Warmaster’s sights, the Throneworld and the seat of his father’s rule. Horus’ desire is nothing less than the death of the Emperor of Mankind and the utter subjugation of the Imperium. He has become the ascendant vessel of Chaos and amassed a terrible army with which to enact his will and vengeance. But the way to the Throne will be hard as the primarch Rogal Dorn, the Praetorian and protector of Terra, marshals the defences.

So I read some of the less favorable reviews and wanted to share my own.
There are many plot points, some of which have slow sections. However if you are reading the HH series you would be familiar with them all and I LOVED getting to see where some of our day 1 characters have ended up. While the book COULD have been divided up into two separate books, I don't think this was necessary. I thought the story was concise, and made sense in one novel.
**SPOILERS**
Overall, I loved this book. I think it set the stage so well for the siege of Terra. From the first traitor ships emerging from the warp with our boy Sigismund getting ready to engage, all the way to the final moments as the first shells fall on Terra, this felt meaningful and was everything I could hope for. I thought the sense of scale was magnificent, and loved that we got to see the plans of both sides play out slowly over the course of the book.
Also, Dorn is an absolute monster and hearing his battles with demons blew my mind. Johnathan Keeble was magnificent as always.

Historia
Since the earliest days of the Great Crusade, Sanguinius - angelic primarch of the IXth Legion - was ever among the closest and most loyal of Horus' brothers. But the Blood Angels have long kept their true nature hidden from the rest of the Imperium, and when the Warmaster hints that the key to their salvation may lie in the ruins of a conquered world, the sons of Sanguinius race to claim it.

Amazing!

A wild, choas filled trip to madness and triumph. The angle and his boys are at their best here, I highly recommend it!
