Historia
The tough neighborhood of Dorchester is no place for the innocent or the weak. A territory defined by hard heads and even harder luck, its streets are littered with the detritus of broken families, hearts, dreams. Now, one of its youngest is missing. Private investigators Patrick Kenzie and Angela Gennaro don't want the case.

Long and slow
Revisado: 12-13-24
The exciting parts were good, it just took so long to get to them. That combined with an ending I didn’t care makes for a no go recommendation from me.

Historia
After a busted marriage kicks his drinking problem into overdrive and the LAPD unceremoniously dumps him, 35-year-old Jesse Stone's future looks bleak. So he's shocked when a small Massachusetts town called Paradise recruits him as police chief. He can't help wondering if this job is a genuine chance to start over, the kind of offer he can't refuse. Once on board, Jesse doesn't have to look for trouble in Paradise: It comes to him. For what is on the surface a quiet New England community quickly proves to be a crucible of political and moral corruption.

Decent book, horrible audio
Revisado: 01-04-24
Book was pretty good but honestly, not worth the poor audio. I can’t believe this is even on the app. I would say don’t waste your money on this for that reason. Also, if you’re in a book club, good luck having any clue what chapter you’re on.

Liked the stories. Narrator wasn’t the best at keeping me interested. Love the author though.

Historia
Stephen King returns to the characters and territory of one of his most popular novels ever, The Shining, in this instantly riveting novel about the now middle-aged Dan Torrance (the boy protagonist of The Shining) and the very special 12-year-old girl he must save from a tribe of murderous paranormals. This is an epic war between good and evil, a gory, glorious story that will thrill the millions of hyper-devoted fans of The Shining and wildly satisfy anyone new to the territory of this icon in the King canon.

Just ok
Revisado: 03-23-23
It starts out pretty strong with me actually thinking it might be better than the shading, but then winds up kind of tapering off after the halfway point. King seems to throw in some odd twists that just seem lazy instead of shocking.

Historia
A decade ago, kidnappers grabbed two boys from wealthy families and demanded ransom, then went silent. No trace of the boys ever surfaced. For 10 years their families have been left with nothing but painful memories and a quiet desperation for the day that has finally, miraculously arrived: Myron Bolitar and his friend Win believe they have located one of the boys, now a teenager. Where has he been for 10 years, and what does he know about the day, more than half a life ago, when he was taken?

Very good

A fitting ending(?) to Myron. Narrator in the past has gone over top exaggerating character emotions but he toned it down this book and it was much more enjoyable because of it.

Historia
Myron Bolitar has always dreamed about the femme fatale walking into his office and asking for help. The woman standing in his doorway has killer curves all right: She’s eight months pregnant, which kind of ruins the fantasy. Former tennis star Suzze T and her rock star husband, Lex, are both clients, and over the years Myron has negotiated his share of contracts for the power pair. But now Lex has disappeared and Suzze is in tears, fearing the online rumors questioning the baby’s paternity have driven away Lex.

Historia
Myron hasn't heard from Terese Collins in years. Not since their affair ended with no explanation. There had been no contact since, so her call catches him off guard. She's in Paris, she says, in trouble, and only Myron can help. She tells him a sad story she's never before revealed: a good marriage, her struggles to get pregnant, the happiest moment of her life when her only child was born, the day everything she'd ever loved was taken from her.

Good book
Revisado: 01-22-22
I see a lot of people complaining about the narrator. I’m going to say this, is he the best narrator for the Myron books? Probably not. I, like everyone else, got used to the previous narrator and liked him best. This guy was not bad at all though. Especially after Harlan himself tried to narrate the last one. That was pretty brutal. Very good story and worth the purchase.

The school year is almost over. Anxious families await word of college acceptances. In these last pressure-cooker months of high school, some kids will make the all-too-common and all-too-dangerous mistake of drinking and driving. But Myron is determined to help keep his friends' children safe, so he makes two neighborhood girls promise him: If they are ever in a bind but are afraid to call their parents, they must call him.

Good story, HORRIBLY narrated
Revisado: 01-01-22
I hope Coben isn’t getting too cheap to pay for a narrator. This was absolutely brutal to listen to. Whether trying to save a buck or getting too big an ego, shame on Coben. Stick to writing and pleasing your audience.

Historia
Myron's sports agency is struggling. Now more than ever, Myron needs to keep his eye on the ball, sign up some big-name clients, and turn away from the amateur detective work that is taking precious time away from the agency. But life is not going according to plan. Emily Downing, Myron's college sweetheart, reappears with devastating news: Her 13-year-old son, Jeremy, is gravely ill and can be saved only by a bone-marrow transplant - from a donor who has vanished without a trace. An even bigger shocker: Jeremy is Myron's son, conceived the night before Emily's wedding to another man.
