Oh, if only I had read the reviews. Kaeomakana Tiwanak (is that actually a person's name) destroys what otherwise could have been a really good book. I enjoyed the first in the series, but the voice of Chaz is so god awful it pulls you out of the story. Michael Dean does an OK job, but I'm not sure why Dante is suddenly Irish!?! Unfortunately, I cannot even finish the book because the narration is so god-awful.

I didn't expect so much

Before the revelation of conversion therapy, I didn't like the protagonist at all. He seemed to be an opportunist, but as his story was revealed, I kept rooting for him to succeed and find peace. The narrator is brilliant; he brought the story to life. Some of the reviews left here miss the point about Christianity and rich old white men abusing their power (remember Eppstein? remember Weinstein?) and many of us have turned to the church only to be hurt by it. I wept for Jonah and I wept for the relationship I shared with my father. I think this is excellent work and I look forward to reading more by him.

Instead of lumping things together, it would have been more interesting to intersperse Jones' reading with the recordings of Coward and Margaret Leighton. Some intro to the scenes would have been a nice touch as well. there's great material here, but the overall effect is lackluster. Coward deserves better.

Surprisingly outstanding as an audiobook

I was highly motivated to get through this work because I never knew much about Misner's approach. I can't say that I know much more now, though there are nuggets of wisdom and inspiration scattered throughout the text. it is beautifully read, though if you aren't a practitioner of theater you won't really enjoy this.

a great book!

excellent narration by Brian Nishi. His performance was lively and very conversational in tone. he made me feel as though Dr. Fung was speaking directly to me. This is a very important work, excellently researched and takes a no nonsense approach to nutrition, and identifies the real culprit behind obesity.
