when an author gets bored with their universe...

this ending was so rushed. All that buildup to end with the last 15 minutes of "let's just stop fighting". No wrap up. No story of what the world looks like with the new species. nothing.
Author clearly got bored with his universe and ended it.

whoever thought releasing this book with all those pauses needs to be fired. it honestly felt like a high-school kid had tried to extend the size of his report by adding extra space after each sentence. probably lost an hour total runtime to those ridiculous pauses.
story is weaker then the rest of the series, but still a decent ending.

might as well have been a new story

Any character growth the main character has in the previous book is gone. He is dumb as hell in this book and it makes no sense. if this was a stand alone book that didn't use a character from the previous one I'd give it 5 stars. As it is this reminds me of how Disney treated the old characters in star wars.
new narrator did amazing. the explanation of why was also greatly appreciated.

1 dimensional mc who never learns

1600 year old assassin sorcerer constantly gets his butt handed to him on a silver platter because he doesn't actually know how to fight. keeps talking like he is a badass who has 1600 years of training and experience in basically everything and in the first 30 minutes he is walking into something he ALREADY KNOWS IS A TRAP without a single weapon. This has been happening in every single book since the first one and I finally needed to write a review on it. it seems what all the thugs keep saying about him, how he is nothing without his magic, is very true.
Only once in the entire series, the first book in fact, does he even think to make use of something other then magic to kill hard to fight enemies. IDIOT!!
