Historia
Unbeknownst to food critic Sheila Himmel-as she reviewed exotic cuisines from bistro to brasserie- her daughter, Lisa, was at home starving herself. Before Sheila fully grasped what was happening, her 14-year-old with a thirst for life and a palate for the flavors of Vietnam and Afghanistan was replaced by a weight-obsessed, antisocial, 100 pound 19-year-old.

Not the memoir I was hoping for
Revisado: 06-10-22
This book ended up being way more technical about eating disorders sprinkled with personal experiences. Made for a long and tough read. I had to rewind several times due to zoning out.

Historia
A year and a half into our marriage, I found out my husband had been having an affair with a 19-year-old for six months. I filed for divorce and left. Two weeks later I met a man, and we fell madly in love. It was a fairy-tale romance for a month and a half, and he convinced me to join him on a romantic month-long vacation in Italy. Forty-eight hours before we were supposed to get on a plane, he told me he needed to go by himself. I was devastated. So, I had a decision to make. Either stay home and be heartbroken, or go travel Europe for a month by myself.

Quipy and relatable
Revisado: 03-16-22
The overall story is relatable and people can definitely identify with the feelings and processes the author goes through. However I was distracted by the constant comments regarding all the amazing food she was indulging in but then always followed by despairing remarks regarding its damage to her figure or how she’d pay for it later. It distracted from the message and her journey.

Difficult for advanced readers
Revisado: 01-08-22
I read the series as a quick light read and while it was that, I struggled at how the author assumed you hadn’t read it’s predecessors. The continued recaps about characters, events, and plots from prior stories was not exhausting to repeat but felt like filler material and was in the way of the story. I kept reading because I liked the story and wanted to know the outcome. However could have definitely been 2 books instead of 3.

A bit choppy the is abrupt
Revisado: 05-05-21
The story is choppy and at times towards the end it seemed like parts of it were missing. The abrupt and unsettled end left me thinking the story wasn’t done and felt like I’d been robbed of my time. But overall the story was decent and the reader is good.

Not the best of the bunch.
Revisado: 01-14-21
The first 3 books were fantastic and I was hooked. This volume seemed drawn out in the beginning abs then rushed at the end. The narrators shrill voice when changing characters made it difficult to listen to and hard to focus.

Historia
The hardscrabble folks of Troublesome Creek have to scrap for everything - everything except books, that is. Thanks to Roosevelt's Kentucky Pack Horse Library Project, Troublesome's got its very own traveling librarian, Cussy Mary Carter. Cussy's not only a book woman, however, she's also the last of her kind, her skin a shade of blue unlike most anyone else. Not everyone is keen on Cussy's family or the Library Project, and a Blue is often blamed for any whiff of trouble.

Great story slow read.
Revisado: 08-25-20
The story was intriguing and I kept reading to find out how it ended. Though professes slowly and wasn’t really a page turner for me. Kept waiting for the story to get really exciting. Is based on true historical events and data which made me pick it.

Historia
Set in present-day Los Angeles, Junk explores an epic conspiracy, one at work for thousands of years that involves total takeover of the planet Earth by aliens. In the wild, souped-up vision of Les Bohem - the acclaimed, Emmy-winning writer of the Steven Spielberg miniseries, Taken - the world is at the end stage of long-range plot that involves a gigantic genetic-engineering project. The aliens who have invaded us have no planet. No spaceship is coming. Instead, a small advance force comes, breeds, and dies - thus becoming an anomaly in our DNA that can’t be explained.

Drawn out and tedious
Revisado: 04-23-19
The story takes so long and many points are drawn out. There’s so many character points of view it can be confusing at times. Add all that when you finally get to the end it’s unsatisfying and stunted.

Great story distracting narrator
Revisado: 06-04-18
Beginning this book I thought it was about an older woman based on the narrators voice. She was great, her voice is nice, but much older sounding than he character and it distracted from the story. Book was fantastic though And I’ll be reading the second one.
