Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

Red Light
Revisado: 08-28-21
McConaughey is a "Showman". He says this often in this book. Are the varied stories, supposedly, from his life actually true? Beats me. For example, He regales the reader with several existential epiphanies related to nocturnal seminal emissions. Really? There are other trips into never never land. I made it to the end but repatedly asked myself "why?". if you are tempted to read this book, my advice is don't.

Historia
The Rifle is the inspirational story of a 28-year-old US Marine, Andrew Biggio, who returned home from combat in Afghanistan and Iraq, full of questions about the price of war. He found answers from those who survived the costliest war of all - WWII veterans. It began when Biggio bought a 1945 M1 Garand Rifle, the most common rifle used in WWII. When Biggio showed the gun to his neighbor, WWII veteran Corporal Joseph Drago, it unlocked memories Drago had kept unspoken for 50 years.

Great Book
Revisado: 08-28-21
There are parts of this book that are easy to hear. As one would expect there are parts of the book that are difficult due to the impact that war has on the participants. But the book held my interest from start to finish. Having father who was a member of the Greatest Generation, I understand the need to celebrate, while we can, the dwindling resource our WWII veterans are. Certainly, we would not enjoy the freedoms that we do today if they.had not stepped forward and shouldered the load of winning the war. The Rifle is a good book and I urge it as a good read.

Historia
As singular as Corporal York’s heroism and resourcefulness on the battlefield were, they were all the more remarkable in light of his former opposition to war on religious grounds. His was the unshakable conviction and resolve of a convert, having traded, on his knees, a wild, remorseless life for one of sincere Christian piety in the peaceful stillness of a New Year’s dawn nearly four years before. And yet, he was persuaded that spiritual victories must sometimes be gained through wars of the flesh.

Great Presentation of a Great Life Lived
Revisado: 08-28-21
Alvin York's WWI heroic actions are discussed first in this book. Then then book provides the story of York's life discussing his early wild days followed by his Christian conversion, his own lack off education which led to a life long effort to help mountain children be efucated, his family life, his patriotism, his extended long term problems with the IRS, and his overall.positive impact on.the people of the state of TN. .I enjoyed the book from start to finish.
