Really entertaining adventure pitting faith against science. A lot like Dan Brown's series. George Guidall is my favorite narrator.

While it is engaging to hear a story featuring Moriarty, much of the book focuses on a different character and the reader might feel betrayed by the title. Jones is a fanatical Holmes fan but the examples of his intelligence and drive are dashed away leaving the reader disappointed in the end. I would have preferred a straight adventure about Moriarty and Jones as the majority of the book builds sympathy for the introductory characters which is hard to give up at the end.

You won't believe your ears when you listen to this high-flying adventure. It's a modern twist on the ancient beliefs with a stinger of family history that is totally unexpected. Edge of your seat action with superlative writing and unparalleled narration by Sterlin.

The almost infallible reasoning possessed by Homes is no help in conquering his emotional attachments which are integral to this case. Did Mary's family die by accident? Discover her deepest secrets in Locked Rooms.

Good mystery with engaging characters. Hovers on the edge of scifi. Ending was abrupt and unearned.

While the genre may very well remind you of Dan Brown, Caldwell has used this story to explore new heights in the relationship between the human and the Devine. I especially enjoyed the descriptions of family love the two brothers feel for each other compared and contrasted to the love the father feels for his son and the sadness at his wife's disappearance. I appreciate the complex yet realistic biblical mystery which must be solved. But the highest praise I can give to any author remains that I came to truly care about the characters and in this Caldwell has supremely succeeded.

They tried to cast someone who spoke French fluently but failed to realize how irritating his phlemy delivery would be. This book is not like Name of the Rose. While the author tried to write a dispicable narrator who has serious mental issues, we don't care about him which is the paramount rule in writing. If I can't identify with something the main character is experiencing I won't put up with the endless forgeries he is describing, even if the history is interesting. Better stick your proven formula in Name of the Rose.

I'm not sure which bothers me more: the inappropriately high voice of the narrator or the strangely written prose. Kirkus claims it is highly readable but there's something awkward in the stilted language that takes me out of the story almost every paragraph. I never cared about the characters and the protagonist, Claire, is too mechanically precise to be human. The narrator makes everyone sound like a child which does nothing to improve the less than stellar writing. I think I'm going to avoid both author and narrator in the future.

While the author gives a fully developed story in a well researched setting, the ending is not justified and too abrupt for my taste. There is no evidence that the person who is the subject of unconscionable hypnotic experiments has any degree of intelligence necessary to accomplish her final triumph. I felt disappointed and incredulous.

Sir Terry Pratchett is the genius of zany magical adventures. You will always be able to recognize his factious style and surprising metaphors once you've read Mort.
