I am a retired Army Reserve Master Sergeant who served in both Iraq and Afghanistan as a volunteer. I was a 52 year-old Master Chaplain Assistant when I first went to Baghdad in April 2003. I was part of ORHA stationed at the Republican Guard Palace, I would not trade my experience for the world. Pete wrote such an excellent book. He articulated my thoughts beautifully and perfectly, except for some of the colorful language, but in the end he explained why he used it and I think it was appropriate, “you can take the boy out of the Army, but you can’t take the Army out of the boy” Hooah! Save my Army, I love like one of my children and grandchildren. Thank you Pete for having the intestinal fortitude to write such a great book, naming the criminal leadership at the top of the Pentagon and the service Academy.

I’ve read Sledge’s book, Leckie’s books, and now Burgin’s book. I belief I have read all the books that led to the HBO’s series “Pacific”, and I’m glad I did.

Vince Ellison is the bravest “Black man” I ever encountered. Bring a “White man” i never suffered the indignity so many black Americans have suffered because of the Democratic Party plantation mentality. I hope that this book will be read by all Americans and especially the “demonic Democratic Party.”

This book should be required reading in high school and college. I listened to it twice and may listen to it many more times.

I have always respected Lieutenant General Hal Moore. I think the best thing I’ve read in his book is “three strikes and you’re not out.” This is a simple but excellent philosophy, soldiers need to hear this, all their lives they’ve been told three strikes and you’re out, but Moore perspective gives a better hope to the leaders and the led alike. Those who fought with him fought with a great man, great leader, and a great Soldier.

If I were a Japanese person I would would be offended at his imitation the Japanese voice. I like Robert Leckie’s character from the “Pacific” series and did enjoy his vast knowledge of American and Japanese interest histories of Guadalcanal, the Senseless dying of Japanese soldiers for the emperor was absolutely disgusting.
