Historia
She was a monster, sleek and gleaming, designed to strike without warning like the dreaded shark. She was the USS Mako, as fearless and bold as any submarine that ever prowled the blue Pacific. Her mission: seek out and destroy the hitherto invincible ships of the Japanese Imperial Navy - and revenge the earlier defeats of a long and dirty war. Here is the story of the men who pitted their lives against impossible odds in the most dangerous branch of the American armed services.

Could have been better
Revisado: 12-05-22
Author needs to review several things stated in the book. Very early in the book the Mako dived to 700 feet; not possible in a early WW 2 sub. There are other things said that conflict with other biographical WW 2 submarine books and Naval history. Basic story is good, just not great.

Living and slaving in Fill City One, you get used to the smell. We call it the Everpresent Stink. But every once in a while, on a spring day with a breeze, it clears away enough to remind us that there is something more out there. Most Fillers' wildest dreams would be just to get past the walls and live in the mainland. But my dream? It’s a little bigger. I’m going to Mars.

Well worth the listen
Revisado: 08-24-19
Good book, Light read, Looking forward to listening to the author's next book. While the story has a few holes in it, they really don't detract from the overall story. This is a light writing style, similar to Marko Kloos whom's books I also enjoy.

Not as good as I’d hoped or expected
Revisado: 03-29-18
After all the good reviews I looked forward to listening to this book, but was very disappointed. I’m okay with the premise, it is Sci Fi after all, but I could not get into the story. There is very little character development, no one I could latch onto and root for. The story seemed to me to bounce around too much and drag on. I increased my listening speed and that helped, I think mainly because I wanted it to end. The last hour of the final confrontation was a disappointment. Sorry, this is not a book I would recommend.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.

The moon is a harsh mistress of the 21st century
Revisado: 11-20-17
Andy Weir does it again. Excellent book that moves right along, never burying you in the technical stuff, but providing enough for legitimacy. For enjoyment I equate this book with Robert A. Heinlein's The Moon is a Harsh Mistress. Listening to this book is time well spent. It will make a great movie.

Abandon your intelligence when listening
Revisado: 10-19-17
While slightly entertaining one must abandon ones intellect. At least the story's ending is a little unexpected and not quite as dumb as the earlier parts. Maybe I'm just too technical and logical for this book. I will say that Kate Rudd did an outstanding job, her voices were exceptional and is probably the only reason I finished the book.

Still a great story after all these years with an excellent performance. While a little dated, though not as much as other Heinlein books, it is a good listen and enjoyable story.

Good story, but not epic
Revisado: 06-14-17
This is a very good story and listen, while not as good as Marlo Kloos' Frontline series, this has the potential. The narrator is good, but the male voices are a struggle. I do look forward to listening to the next in the series.
