Historia
In the stirring, highly anticipated first volume of his presidential memoirs, Barack Obama tells the story of his improbable odyssey from young man searching for his identity to leader of the free world, describing in strikingly personal detail both his political education and the landmark moments of the first term of his historic presidency - a time of dramatic transformation and turmoil.

Historical account. Presidential biography. Poetry.
Revisado: 04-16-25
At a seriously tenuous time for our country when our foundational democratic institutions are under direct attack, hearing the voice and story of President Obama helps restore the faith and hope I have in my country. I need to be reminded that our country still has leaders with conscience, integrity, and a moral compass. Someone with respect to rule of law and recognition. This book delivered that to me wrapped. I appreciated Obama’s vulnerability and humility in describing the people in his life whom he admired and opinions he trusted. I only pray leaders like him are not an aberration, rather an actual movement forward. Wonderful read.

Great insight for stressed parent of young athletes
Revisado: 10-06-23
Great insight for a mom of 3 young athletes. As a previous D1 athlete myself, so much has changed, I needed an experienced friend to share their journey. That’s what this book was for me, a good friend who could tell it like it is. Thank you.

Historia
After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium, mopping floors and tidying up. Keeping busy has always helped her cope, which she’s been doing since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat in Puget Sound over thirty years ago. Tova becomes acquainted with curmudgeonly Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium. Marcellus knows more than anyone can imagine but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors—until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.

A delightful emotional rollercoaster!
Revisado: 01-15-23
This book was a delightful escape from my own reality, yet it’s themes were relevant and universal. The readers/performers really brought the characters to life. I laughed. I cried. I couldn’t put it down…rather, take my ear pods off!

Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

Incredible story from start to finish. I’m not a science or math buff, so most tech portions of the story went far over my head, but I loved everything else. The performance was one of the best I’ve ever heard on audible. Bravo!

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

What a great escape. The author masterfully wove heavy topics, heart warming characters, and a gripping storyline. I found myself equally crying and laughing out loud. The narrator was exceptional, one of the best I’ve heard on audible.

Incredible. Michelle Obama courageously shares her story with the world. One part history, two parts inspiration. As a working mom of three young children, a woman of color and daughter of hard working immigrants, this book spoke to my heart and help refresh my tired spirit.

Historia
Born to survivalists in the mountains of Idaho, Tara Westover was seventeen the first time she set foot in a classroom. Her family was so isolated from mainstream society that there was no one to ensure the children received an education, and no one to intervene when one of Tara’s older brothers became violent. When another brother got himself into college, Tara decided to try a new kind of life. Her quest for knowledge transformed her, taking her over oceans and across continents, to Harvard and to Cambridge University.

Historia
Our most commonly held formula for success is broken. Conventional wisdom holds that once we succeed, we’ll be happy; that once we get that great job, win that next promotion, lose those five pounds, happiness will follow. But the science reveals this formula to be backward: Happiness fuels success, not the other way around.

"Reading" this book has inspired me in all areas of my life. As a counselor, I know many of these principals already, but I needed to be reminded that positive psychology is real, research proven stuff that I actually have power to change. It gave me real, tangible recommendations of how I can become more happy in life, work and home. Thanks Shawn!
