I'm really enjoying this new series, it has a fun mix of Sci-fi and Crime Noir elements.

Has not aged well.
Revisado: 08-10-22
This is one Nero Wolfe story that I don't think has aged well. It does give you a good feel for the racial tension of the 1960's, much like "In the Heat of the night". It just lacks some of the charm, and fun I get find in other Nero Wolfe stories.

Historia
When General Douglas MacArthur arrived in Australia in March 1942, having successfully left the Philippines to organize a new American army, he vowed, "I shall return!" More than two years later he did return, at the head of a large U.S. army to retake the Philippines from the Japanese. The place of his re-invasion was the central Philippine Island of Leyte. Much has been written about the naval Battle of Leyte Gulf that his return provoked, but almost nothing has been written about the three-month long battle to seize Leyte itself.

interesting history, but boring narration.
Revisado: 12-10-20
A very indepth and detailed history of the Letye campaign. Sadly the narrators delivery was lack luster and comes across like a high school history lecture.

Unexplained narrator change
Revisado: 08-10-17
Not one of my favorite Nero Wolfes but still a good story. I was very confused by the fact someone other than Michael Pritchard (one of my favorite narrator's) reads the last chapter.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 05-15-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
Not really, this entire series is more of a soap opera set in WWII rather than an action series. There is more implied sex than fighting.
Has Semper Fi turned you off from other books in this genre?
Just this author
Do you think Semper Fi needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
There are more books in the series but I have no interest in wasting my time listening.
Any additional comments?
I don't know why these books are rated so high.
