This was awful. There were no good characters., no one to root for. I hated everyone but the dog, the daughter and the new husband. Wish I could get those hours back.

Diabolically, Naively Woke
Revisado: 05-24-23
From the outset this story was confusing. How could a 31 year old believe for a second that the individual who stopped a would-be mass murderer from killing more than the two initial victims is a "murderer"? How often does the mass murderer die in these scenarios in real life - very frequently through suicide by cop? Yes this story is calling the hero a murderer and everyone, including her family, thinks she is "a stone-cold killer." Anyone who does not tout the woke party line is portrayed as evil, corrupt, or stupid. What an awful, awful story. COMPLETELY out of touch with reality and allowing for ZERO shades of grey. Characters are one dimensional.
What schlock!

Historia
When a young woman is found brutally murdered in her own apartment with an intricate pattern of lines carved into her face, Copenhagen police detectives Jeppe Korner and Anette Werner are assigned to the case. Soon, they establish a link between the victim, Julie Stender, and her landlady, Esther de Laurenti, who’s a bit too fond of drink and the host of raucous dinner parties with her artist friends. Esther also turns out to be a budding novelist - and when Julie turns up as a murder victim in the unfinished mystery she’s writing, the link between fiction and real life grows.

The main character make one want to take antidepressants. The slow, plodding flow of the narrative was painful. What wasted hours!

Thomas intends to see that Byrne is allowed to rest in peace, but his efforts are complicated when his betrothed, Lady Lydia Farrell, breaks off their engagement without explanation.

Very wordy PNW stereotype story
Revisado: 09-17-18
This was an exercise in self-torture. Marguerite Gavin sounds whiny throughout the story. Sarah Fox appears to have been given a Washington stereotype and a minimum word requirement numbering somewhere about five billion. Her phrases are not appropriate for "normal people" and certainly not for people living in Washington State. Her over description of every tiny detail is beyond annoying, it becomes destracting! The main character - Marley - is the most co-dependent, immature, over-thinking, obsessive person ever. It was not a pleasant listen, and I will never EVER read or listen to another of her books again. UGH!

Historia
Georgie, or Lady Georgiana Rannoch, is busy planning her upcoming nuptials to Darcy O'Mara. Unfortunately, what has started as a simple wedding has become quite a royal headache and grand affair, thanks to a guest list that includes the queen and the appointment of princesses as Georgie's bridesmaids. “If only Darcy and I had eloped!” she thinks, as she attempts to organize her wedding and find a place for her and her husband-to-be to live. Just as she despairs of ever finding a home, her godfather offers his fully staffed country estate. But something sinister is afoot....

Mixed bag but Bowen carries the day!
Revisado: 08-11-18
Rhys Bowen once again demonstrates why she is an award winning author. Fans of Georgie are going to love the newest adventure as she plans for her marriage to Darcy. In her typical fashion, Lady Georgiana innocently goes about life as an impoverished heir to the throne – albeit 36th in line.
The search for a home for the soon-to-be newlyweds meets a giant bump in the road when her benefactor makes the offer of his home, a large country estate. Seems a great gift until her arrival at the estate. The house and gardens are a mess; the house, sparse; the servants hopeless! In her usual fashion Georgie stumbles on a mystery which nearly proves fatal!
With the aid of her usual companions – her Grandfather, mother, Queenie, Belinda and Darcy – Georgie carries on, providing an entertaining romp of a mystery which unravels satisfyingly.
The biggest mystery of all was whether Georgie and Darcy would make it down the aisle and into wedded bliss. Certainly seems the fates are against it!
The disappointing part was the narrator. She was not good at all. Her character portrayals were inconsistent - as was her accents. Set aside Ms. Blackborow's performance and it is still enjoyable.
Another wonderful Georgie tale. Thank you, Ms. Bowen!

What a HORRIBLE waste of time!
Revisado: 06-14-18
This is the first of a series, but the last for me. The main character is a arrogant, condescending cow who believes she is smarter than, not just her employer whom she alledges to like, but everyone else in the ruddy book! She is completely unsympathetic character. Her employer, a police superintendent at the Yard is written as a fool. Another "police are stupid and incapable of doing anything right" book. The writing is mediocre at best, the story is tripe, the characters are vile. AWFUL, truly awful. Learn from my mistake and avoid this drivel like the plague.

Good story, bad presentation
Revisado: 05-14-18
The listing for this title is inaccurate. It states it is narrated by Penelope Freeman, but it is the author who narrates as is stated in the recording. Sara Sheridan is a talented author, but she should NOT narrate. She speaks too fast, does not differentiate between characters and everything runs together. I'm sure she knows her story better than anyone else, but she simply destroys the experience of the story. Very disappointed.
