Good story butttttt
Revisado: 04-14-25
It’s a good story and I like the male narrator but I hated the female narrator. The breathy, soft voice just was not for me. And it was a noticeable volume difference which only made me dislike it more.

I just love KMM
Revisado: 04-09-25
I really do, I just LOVE any and everything KMM. I've read AND listened to all her books 3-4 times and I am starting them over again. I think her Fever Series is the inspiration for the ACOTAR series and I will die on that hill, they are so similar. Now excuse me while I dive back into this universe again.

It was meh for me
Revisado: 10-01-24
I wasn't too fond of the heavy religious aspect. It's one thing when it's a made up one but this wasn't made up. I also was not a fan of the female narrator, the guys were good but the woman had a nasally, obnoxious sound that was just piercing for me.

It’s very good
Revisado: 06-27-23
The narrator is perfect. The story is intricate and dark and very interesting. It has dark adult themes without being smut and a take on different parts of people’s personalities. Definitely recommend.

Aided by a redoubtable British mycologist and a baffled American doctor, Alex must unravel the secret of the House of Usher before it consumes them all.

The narrator is atrocious
Revisado: 06-15-23
I can’t really rate the story yet, I DNF’d this one because of the narrator. I’ll just buy the physical book and read that. I can’t get into the story because of the narration. The narrator has a gender ambiguous voice which is great for different characters but they way they over enunciate every single letter in a word to sound articulate only sounds pretentious and irritating. It’s also SO SLOW. They spend so much time trying to get every letter that had I finished, I would swear adds 45 mins to the length. Also, are there any contractions in this book??

The male narrator is terrible
Revisado: 04-19-23
I miss Phil. He has the baritone that really feels right for a bunch of testosterone fueled men. This new guy? He sounds like Jeff Dunham trying to do a sexy deep voice and the WORST accents. I love this series, I’ve read it twice but listening to this one? It’s actually painful. This is not the genre for him… I do like the female voice though. She’s got that sultry, powerful feminine sound that previous narrators didn’t.

Revisado: 01-09-23
There’s so many dark motifs and hard material to digest but it’s so beautifully written and performed. Nothing is wasted.
