Historia
In August of 1914, the British ship Endurance set sail for the South Atlantic. In October 1915, still half a continent away from its intended base, the ship was trapped, then crushed in the ice. For five months, Sir Ernest Shackleton and his men, drifting on ice packs, were castaways in one of the most savage regions of the world. Lansing describes how the men survived a 1,000-mile voyage in an open boat across the stormiest ocean on the globe and an overland trek through forbidding glaciers and mountains.

Historia
From age 11, in 1974, until she left the show, in 1981, Melissa Anderson literally grew up before the viewers of Little House on the Prairie. Melissa, as Mary, is remembered by many as the blind sister - and she was the only actor in the series to be nominated for an Emmy. In The Way I See It, she takes listeners onto the set and inside the world of the iconic series created by Michael Landon, who, Melissa discovered, was not perfect, as much as he tried to be. In this memoir she also shares her memories of working with guest stars like Todd Bridges, Mariette Hartley, Sean Penn, Patricia Neal, and Johnny Cash.

Absolutely Insufferable
Revisado: 05-02-23
If you are looking for insights into what it was like to work on the beloved tv show LHOP this IS NOT the book for you. This is nothing more than a recap (in gruesome detail) of LHOP episodes and “Missy” telling us how awesome and superior she is. Not worth the time or money.

Historia
This is a study of how intellectuals as a class affect modern societies by shaping the climate of opinion in which official policies develop, on issues ranging from economics to law to war and peace. You will hear a withering and clear-eyed critique about (but not for) intellectuals that explores their impact on public opinion, policy, and society at large.

Very Good, But Re-warmed Visions of the Annointed
Revisado: 02-02-10
I am a big fam of Thomas Sowell's writings and have been since I read Visions of the Annointed a few years ago. That said, having read the former, I was disappointed that this book was really little more than a re-warmed version of VOtA. If you have read VOtA, I would not suggest thsi book. If not, It is a worthy read and sheds light on the tricks played by intellectuals and the followers to skew reality to match their vision.

An Excellent Way To Learn
Revisado: 02-22-06
I really enjoyed this program. Initially, I was put off by the 'jump in to the deep end' approach, but after listening to it a couple times. I found myself being able to have decent conversations in french. My only criticism would be that it would be more helpful if they would briefly discuss irregularities prior to using them. Etre verbs and me, te, and vous pronouns specifically.

A Great Introduction to A Wonderful Language
Revisado: 02-06-06
I took some French in High School many years ago, an subsequently forgot all of it. I listened to this program, and found myself able to get around Paris speaking the language and not feeling like an idiot The dialogue is simple yet extremely effective. I ONLY WISH AUDIBLE HAD THE NEXT SET OF LESSONS AVAILABLE.

Historia
Ayn Rand's famous 1957 classic, Atlas Shrugged, has become more widely read and influential with each passing year, thanks in part to its brilliant dramatization of Rand's Objectivist philosophy and its celebration of self-reliance, integrity, rationality, and productive effort.

The World of Atlas Shrugged
Revisado: 07-03-03
While there were some interesting elements to this book, I found it to be for the most part, well, fluffy. I was expecting a more critical look at the book. I found the narration annoying, and the potrayals off the mark of my own view of the characters. I knew I was in for trouble the first time they said "Who is John Galt?". They made it sound like it was something other than the rhetorical question of a person unable to comprehend what was happening to their world. I would only recommend this book to a first time reader
