What a ride!
I don't know if this happens, but I wonder if sometimes Gregg Hurwitz writes with Scott Brick's narration in mind. I love the characters that Hurwitz has created and how Brick brings them to life.
This was a fun and poignant story, and I eagerly await the next installment.
Thank you, thank you, both!

I really enjoyed listening to this book! It accompanied me on my 7-hour car drive and made it fly by. I don't like to put any spoilers in reviews, but will say I enjoyed all the characters and their readers.
I've just downloaded another Mindy Mejia book to listen to on my way home. :)

Hold on tight! A wild ride!
Revisado: 01-15-23
Holy smokes! This was a great listen! I read other reviews where people didn't like flipping back and forth in the timeline, but I thought it was a very effective style of delivering the story. Henry Leyva performed this effect to a tee - just with his reading of the chapter number did I know where we would be in the timeline. Such a tremendous job!
So far I have absolutely loved this series. Bravo Paul Doiron!

Revisado: 10-15-22
I saw Paul Doiron interviewed by Rob Caldwell on 207, a Maine current events and local news program. This led me to purchase the first in this series and give a listen. I really enjoyed it and am especially delighted that this is the first in a long series. Mike, the lead character is a very likable fellow and I will enjoy following him in the books to come.
The narrator did a great job!

Enjoying this series!!
Revisado: 11-13-21
Not sure why or if I even SHOULD like John Corey, but I do. Due in large part to Scott Brick's outstanding narration. The length of the book may seem daunting, but just sit back and enjoy the pace of this novel. Not too scant in detail as some quicker reads can be, but riveting the entire way through. Great story line. Interesting to note the history spoken of in this novel bumped up against our hindsight now.
Just finished this novel on my walk and have already downloaded the next in the series.

See what I did there, Matthew FitzSimmons? Wrote my headline in a tense that assumes more installment(s) to come? :) Hopefully not wishful thinking! I do a lot of walking during these Covid times and listen to books - I have plowed through the Gibson Vaughn series and have enjoyed it immensely. I especially like the witty, sarcastic humor of the characters and often laugh out loud at the dialogue (fun when I'm walking by myself and other people are around).
James Patrick Cronin is fantastic at bringing the characters to life - accents and delivery are awesome.
