it's not what you think.

I wanted to listen to this first, but after reading reviews I decided to read Fearless first. You definitely need to read it first. This is not a standalone at all. So I read Fearless, and it was pretty good, but it got me so excited to listen to this book. It teased at a certain dynamic between Skar and Hana. Serious Daddy vibes. Maybe a little age play? Definitely hinted at a D/s relationship. This book is NOT that. It was vanilla AF. Which was a huge let down for me. BUT if you were worried about this book because you didn't want to read that stuff, have no fear because it was clean by my standards. Even though Skar's inner monolog hinted at some rougher stuff, it never actually happened. It's honestly one of my biggest pet peeves, when I expect a book to be a certain way, based on descriptions and dynamics being laid out in a previous book, and then it's nothing like what I expect. Really, the biggest disappointment was how both Skar and Hana were portrayed in Fearless did NOT match in Filthy. Skar was supposed to be this big, broken, rough silent type, but he wasn't as extreme as Fearless made him seem. Definitely not rough. And Hana was supposed to be an almost child-like girl in need of some serious guidance and discipline and a firm hand. She was not that at all. There was a couple of times the author seemed to push for that image, like her sitting on the floor? But she was so different in Filthy than she was in Fearless.

As for the story, it was pretty cheesy if you ask me. which is fine, but since I was already annoyed by the let down, I was being extra critical I think. But the story is a little confusing, and definitely left too many questions unanswered. It also lost focus too often. There was a big subplot involving Pepper that just didn't seem like it needed to be focused on in the story, but that's just my opinion.

As for the narration, Samantha was okay. I didn't really think her voice fit with the Hana I thought I was getting based on her character in Fearless, but probably worked fine for the Hana in this story. But I didn't like her male voice at all. Teddy on the other hand was simply fantastic, he's always fantastic, and the fact that he narrated this book is the entire reason I bought on Audible instead of just reading on KU.

great performance, story fell short

I'll start off by saying the narration was fantastic. Jason Clarke can do no wrong and Vanessa Edwin was so good too.

The story, however, just fell short. It started off good, then got so frustrating because of how cruel Trent was to Peyton. But if felt like such a huge build up and then just fell so flat. It was soooo unsatisfying. Trent needed to do WAAAY more groveling. Peyton gave in way too easily, it was cringy. And then after building such insane tension between them I expected an explosive and passionate sexy scene once they finally got there, but it was so bland and, again, cringy, because he seemed so reluctant, almost like he didn't really want it. It was just such a bummer. The last quarter of the story just needs to be re-written if you ask me.

Greatest. Book. Ever!
story is great, tugs at your heartstrings, plenty of action and badassery, and so f*ing hot!! 🔥🔥
can be read as a standalone, but makes more sense if you read Lessons in Corruption first (which is also very good).
Jason Clarke is one of my favorite narrators and this is his best performance that I've heard. He is sheer perfection as Zeus Garro. Absolutely amazing and sexy narration! And Desiree Ketchum was fantastic as well. Just an all around fantastic audible experience!

ugly and wonderful story

unpopular opinion here. this was a fictional story.. no real children were harmed in the making..I don't think this was a romance story, but a beautiful and sad story about a girl named Wavy. I did not think that the story romanticized pedophilia. It was just the reality of Wavy's life. Her life was the story here. Some of it was hard to listen to, but every character including Kellen recognized that what happened between kellen and wavy was wrong. everyone except wavy. kellen even went to prison for it. but at the end of the day, Wavy did love Kellen and got her own version of a HEA.

I thought the narration was spectacular. I do prefer that there is a male narrator when there is a male POV, but I thought she did it justice anyway. there were some points where the pitch of her voice changed to sound more female where it shouldn't have, but I got over it, because it was such a good performance otherwise.

the MCs were just sooo dumb and clueless, made me want to scream. ava Erickson is an amazing narrator and did a fantastic job. John lane did a good job but his voice isn't my fav. just glad it was a free listen

perfect narration!

omg the narrators voice is everything! I still would've preferred a female narration for the female's POV, but honestly, he did pretty damn good. and his Texas accent for Jack was so sexy! I could listen to it all day! As a woman with some serious daddy issues, I loved this story!

loved, loved, loved this book. loved the first one too, but this one was even better. Declan is the perfect Dominant! 🔥🔥🔥 and Sloan is hilarious! narration was fantastic.

I loved this story so much. Lots of complaints about the male narrator sounding too old, but I thought he did pretty good. Definitely sounds older, but I didn't think he sounded that old. I absolutely LOVED Romona Masters narration, loved her voice, thought she captured Remi's character PERFECTLY. Sounded so perfectly like a teenager and also a woman at the same time. Overall great story.

sorry, but Tracy Marks is a no for me

I haven't even come close to finishing this book but after listening to Tracy Marks narrate the dirty bits I hope to God that was the end of that. Praying Sebastian York narrates the naughty talk from now on, because that was just kind of gross to listen to. Not sexy at all, just cringy. I don't think I've listened to Tracy Marks before, and will avoid in the future. Her male voice is bad. Really bad. I like the story so far, and Sebastian York is always perfect, so there's that.
