Historia
Beckett: If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have. I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride. My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart.

Good overall story
Revisado: 04-10-24
It’s unrealistic for five to seven year old children to speak the way these twins did; even mature children don’t talk with this advanced thought process and sentence structure that was used in this book. I have very advanced and mature children with expansive vocabularies for their age and still the children in this book came off very unrealistic.
Otherwise, I fairly enjoyed the book.

Historia
The number one New York Times best-selling story about American Olympic triumph in Nazi Germany, the inspiration for the PBS documentary The Boys of '36, broadcast to coincide with the 2016 Summer Olympics and the 80th anniversary of the boys' gold medal race. Out of the depths of the Depression comes an irresistible story about beating the odds and finding hope in the most desperate of times - the improbable, intimate account of how nine working-class boys from the American West showed the world at the 1936 Olympics in Berlin what true grit really meant.

A Must Read!
Revisado: 03-03-24
This is one of the best audio books I’ve listened to! Although the beginning was a bit tedious for me, the details were necessary to introduce readers to the world of competitive crew boat rowing or sculling. The author did an excellent job of explaining not only what the sport of crew rowing is, but layered meaningful information throughout the story to help the reader understand all facets of the sport, its athletes, equipment and benefits gained in a way that fully immerses you into the inspirational story of the lives of ‘the boys in the boat’. I highly recommend this book for all ages!

Historia
The year 1996 was the one that changed everything for Maggie Dawes. Sent away at 16 to live with an aunt she barely knew in Ocracoke, a remote village on North Carolina’s Outer Banks, she could think only of the friends and family she left behind...until she met Bryce Trickett, one of the few teenagers on the island. Handsome, genuine, and newly admitted to West Point, Bryce showed her how much there was to love about the wind-swept beach town - and introduced her to photography, a passion that would define the rest of her life. By 2019, Maggie is a renowned travel photographer.

Wonderful Story
Revisado: 06-01-23
Spoiler alert! This story hit very close to home for me. Like Maggie, I too became pregnant at 15 and gave birth at 16. However, mine was a circumstance of acquaintance rape. Knowing I was too young and not ready to be a mother, I also gave my son up through a closed adoption hoping he was raised by a loving, Christian family. While in college, I learned where he lived and a lot about his family which I was told were wonderful. Since he was raised well, healthy and happy, I did not want to scare them off or disrupt his or their world but often pray I will one day meet him. Stories like these really do happen in real life. Thank you for this hope.

Historia
Elise Sontag is a typical Iowa 14-year-old in 1943 - aware of the war but distanced from its reach. Then her father, a legal US resident for nearly two decades, is suddenly arrested on suspicion of being a Nazi sympathizer. The family is sent to an internment camp in Texas, where behind the armed guards and barbed wire, Elise feels stripped of everything beloved and familiar, including her own identity. The only thing that makes the camp bearable is meeting fellow internee Mariko Inoue, a Japanese-American teen from Los Angeles.

Touching Story
Revisado: 01-16-23
I thoroughly enjoyed the historical fiction in this book as well as the growth of the characters. I love the conclusion expressed about how people don’t necessarily change but become a full and hopefully better version of themselves throughout their lives. I too treasure the friendships that I never have to say goodbye just so long.

Multilayered historical fiction
Revisado: 12-28-22
I enjoyed the multilayers of historical fiction mingling historical facts and customs with their lasting effects on future events. I feel the characters were also multilayered especially Sophie. I had a respect for her from the beginning of the story which only grew as the story unfolded. This audiobook was well written and well narrated. I felt as if I traveled back in time and could picture as well as hear the sites and sounds of the city, the countryside, and the women’s dresses swooshing as they moved about. Moral of the story, “Love conquers all”.

Inspiring and Uplifting
Revisado: 09-13-22
An inspiring and uplifting story of life's challenges and disappointments and finding a love that overcomes it all. The characters in this story struggle with acceptance, hurt, loss, loneliness, and unmet expectations. As they realize that their actions, both good and bad, have a lasting effect on others and they come to terms with their own limitations, they discover that God has a bigger plan and propose for their lives. Humbling themselves, surrendering their lives to God and trusting him for the outcome, they experience forgives, redemption, reconciliation and a love that lasts for all eternity. Not only will you enjoy this story, but it will encourage you and remind you that love conquers all.

Historia
Casey Cox’s DNA is all over the crime scene. There’s no use talking to police; they’ve failed her abysmally before. She has to flee before she’s arrested . . . or worse. The truth doesn’t matter anymore. But what is the truth? That’s the question haunting Dylan Roberts, the war-weary veteran hired to find Casey. PTSD has marked him damaged goods, but bringing Casey back can redeem him. Though the crime scene seems to tell the whole story, details of the murder aren’t adding up.

Great story
Revisado: 01-29-22
Enjoyed the story line and characters. My only criticism is that it was hard to distinguish the characters while listening because the narrator basically used the same voice for everyone. Otherwise, I highly recommend this book.
