Historia
Now in a third edition, Robert M. Sapolsky's acclaimed and successful Why Zebras Don't Get Ulcers features new chapters on how stress affects sleep and addiction, as well as new insights into anxiety and personality disorder and the impact of spirituality on managing stress. As Sapolsky explains, most of us do not lie awake at night worrying about whether we have leprosy or malaria. Instead, the diseases we fear-and the ones that plague us now-are illnesses brought on by the slow accumulation of damage, such as heart disease and cancer.

Great facts about stress
Revisado: 08-17-24
The info on physical changes stress causes was interesting! I appreciated the depths the author went to cover all bases relating to this topic. I think I’ll listen to it again. As a critical care nurse, my patients are in a state of extreme stress and this book makes sense of this condition and the numerous responses elicited by it. This knowledge will certainly allow me to share with my patients and their families the signs, symptoms, adverse effects stress has, and some interventions to remedy it. Thank you for this book!!

Historia
Killing the Witches revisits one of the most frightening and inexplicable episodes in American history: the events of 1692 and 1693 in Salem Village, Massachusetts. What began as a mysterious affliction of two young girls who suffered violent fits and exhibited strange behavior soon spread to other young women. Rumors of demonic possession and witchcraft consumed Salem. Soon three women were arrested under suspicion of being witches—but as the hysteria spread, more than 200 people were accused. Thirty were found guilty, twenty were executed, and others died in jail or their lives were ruined.

Excellent detailed historical information!
Revisado: 12-18-23
This book gets down to specific historical details about the witch persecutions not only in Salem but other parts of the US and goes into depth about demonic possessions. This is a must read/listen book! Only area of improvement would be the narrator. They could have made the information more visual by having a narrator that could add a dramatic twist and tone instead of a monotone one that conveyed information like stereo instructions.

To understand the roots of personality is to understand motivations and influences that shape behavior, which in turn reflect how you deal with the opportunities and challenges of everyday life. That's the focus of these exciting 24 lectures, in which you examine the differences in people's personalities, where these differences come from, and how they shape our lives. Drawing on information gleaned from psychology, neuroscience, and genetics, Professor Leary opens the door to understanding how personality works and why.

Historia
Between 1896 and 1899, thousands of people lured by gold braved a grueling journey into the remote wilderness of North America. Within two years, Dawson City, in the Canadian Yukon, grew from a mining camp of four hundred to a raucous town of more than thirty thousand. The stampede to the Klondike was the last great gold rush in history. Scurvy, dysentery, frostbite, and starvation stalked all who dared to be in Dawson. And yet the possibilities attracted people from all walks of life.

Excellent Book Bad Narrator
Revisado: 08-21-22
I really enjoyed hearing the history of the Yukon gold rush and all of it’s colorful characters from the past. I wished the narrator wasn’t so boring and could’ve brought these characters to life. Instead he read the book like stereo instructions.

As a hurricane rushes towards the island, she shelters the handsome stranger, names him “Monty”, and tries to uncover the mystery of his missing memory. She soon finds herself falling in love with a man she barely knows, and who doesn’t even know himself. The Mountain and the Sea is a romantic tale about letting go of the past and embracing the present.

Passionate Love
Revisado: 05-14-20
This story was a very passionate love story about two people who were brought together by fate during a storm. It reveals the true nature of love without the complications of life’s problems interfering. The moments between the couple and the setting on the island were beautifully described and narrated. You felt as if you were taken there and somehow part of the story. I can still picture the what the sunset and waterfall must of looked like. This story was an escape for the mind and heart. Thank you for such a sweet story.

Straight Talker
Revisado: 01-11-20
Loved this book! The author doesn’t allow for excuses and is very motivating! Loved his accent, humor, and straight talk. He tells it like it is and helps give a different perspective on how to look at obstacles in your life. I would definitely recommend this book!
