Nicely fits into beginner Portuguese curriculum

The stories can get a little repetitive--basically, in almost every story, the child learns a fact or lesson. It's cute and relaxing, but a bit boring. Despite that fact, the book and audiobook does as advertise--you learn a lot of words in context, the person doing the audiobook sounds joyful, and you can hear how a native speaker may pronounce each word. Overall I think this is a great addition to anyone learning beginner Portuguese, especially combining the audio and the book to increase comprehensible input at an appropriate level.

Don't set your expectations too high?
Revisado: 05-05-23
I've been reading the audible reviews and I'm pretty sure people are either A)setting their expectations too high or B)listening to the wrong thing?
The audiobook follows the book exactly, so I don't know why people are saying there are swear words. You can easily teach this in a high school class without getting the book banned.
Of course the stories aren't good! It's for beginners. It's not meant to be a literary classic (and trust me, I've read a LOT of literary classics). It's meant to be an easy way to learn words and get use to listening to the language.
The book literally says it's for beginners. It's for people who are new to the language. Believe it or not, but some people DON'T know the basic Portuguese words like 'sim' and 'bem'. It's good for people who want to start reading right away without getting to an A2 level or above. If you're above A2, then this audio will be too easy.
Overall, I would say it accomplished its goal--it's spoken by a native speaker, the stories are interesting enough to listen to (again, don't expect literary fiction--expect college freshmen level storytelling here, and it's much better than reading dry text), the words are pronounced clear so you can actually 'hear' each word being spoken (and therefore know what the word sounds like--again, beginner level), and by the time I finished the audio my listening level increase immensely. It's clean, it's organized, its appropriate level for its target audience.

Portuguese can be challenging for beginners, but not with this audiobook. All the Portuguese short stories in this audiobook are unique and hopefully entertaining in content, and new vocabulary is gradually added at a manageable pace so that you won't get overwhelmed. Toward the end of this book, you find the stories slightly more complex, but still comprehensible for beginners.

Needs some serious quality control, both the book and audiobook
Revisado: 03-30-23
I feel like short stories is not the right way to describe these stories--they're basically just paragraphs. So, 100 different paragraphs. I'm fine with these paragraphs since I have a few actual collection of short stories.
The book and audible audio needs some serious quality control. For the Kindle book, there are very noticeable punctuation mistakes that make it hard to hard to read. The audio book has no table of contents, so you have to scroll through an hour or so of audio to listen to the story you want. This is insane considering there's 100 paragraphs here!
In terms of stories, they don't really make sense, in that it's just strange things happening with no context, almost like sentences stringed together. Honestly, it feels like an AI wrote these stories.
As for the audio, it's fine. I enjoy listening to an European accent, which was the reason I got the book and audio. It's serving it's purpose for me-- getting use to hearing European Portuguese and practicing my listening skills. But man, it is in need of an editor.
