DARE TO DESIRE

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 10-13-08

God teaches that a hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a desire accomplished is a tree of life. Dr Henry Cloud studied hundreds of accomplished single women who were not dating, not daring to desire a husband. Many rationalized that being married was not what God wanted for them as He had failed to deliver a suitable, biblical helper for them. Henry reminded them that they used their strengths, but they hid their weakness, of being vulnerable, approachable, and available behind the fig leaf of fear. Dr. Cloud's books are spreckled with humor and scripture, a fun listen. He challenges each single person DARING TO DESIRE a change in their marital status to CHANGE their behavior, their pattern of where they go, of who they hang with, and to intentionally travel to places where they would meet, not date, five new singles per week. OBVIOUS LESSON: God does His part, but we must "do" our part with actions and faith while trusting our indwelt guide. Funny thing about "waiting on the Lord" is that he teaches us to be active while we are waiting. FOR 38 YEARS a disabled and broken hearted man sat by the pool at Bethesda hoping that the rumored angel would heal him and he would walk again. The desperate gathered daily and waited in silence for a miracle. Days, months, years passed without speaking, without reaching out for relationship. With any kind of self-deception or if we are deceived by someone we are in relationship with, we never can trust what reality is. I have been self-deceived for 33 years waiting on God to deliver a suitable husband. THIS BOOK is AWESOME as it gives you HOPE and a PLAN to date with wisdom. Enjoy the journey to the chapel. Who placed the talent in your soul? Who gave you the desire of your heart? Is your answer God the Creator of all that is good? Then WHY NOT DARE TO DESIRE a family, be married, write a book, build a home, compose music, be a speaker, sing? Use this book as a guide, date with boundaries and confidence.

Think and Rejoice

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 12-02-07

A tale spun in a way that gets you thinking and then rejoicing. A necessary "hearing" quite revealing, amazing, thrilling and well done! Paulo writes with a passion to transform. This tale uncovers the feminine side of God. A MYTH = A dance with a thought that never was. THE WITCH OF PORTOBELO = An allegory, or Cohelo's tremendous interpretation of a meaning other than a literal definition.

An honest woman, unlimited, untamed, and free to connect with the sacredness of being female. The heroine, a woman disentangled from the "shoulds" and "musts" in order to lavish in the eternal delight of being true to that which needs no explanation.

"The Witch of Portobello" is a daring response to an unconventional spiritual path. Living the RICH extreme opposing emotions of: the sensual and, the pure. The thin, the fat. The depressed, the enthusiastic. The believer, the naysayer. The wife, the divorcee. The saint, the sinner. The physical, the spiritual. The word witch is full of judgement and prejudice in the religious world. This story speaks to the courage it takes to leave the tribe, to wonder, to explore - without guilt, that which one is drawn to.

Authentic living at large, laughing, and enjoying the thrill of a full range of emotions is the choice of the Witch of Portobello.

Presonal Regression

Mom purchased tickets that would take us by tram to see Ehrenbreitstein. Suddenly I was overcome with a shocking and crippling fear! Inexplicably it was urgent that we run for our lives! The intensity of my fear was visible, we departed quickly and the car soon faced the Rhine again. I looked across the Rhine and I saw a castle. Gleefully and with enthusiasm “Mom can we go see that castle? Before we got our tour tickets memories exploded “My favorite room is just inside to the right, it is the music room, with parquet floors, a harp, it is where we danced! Mom and I were both startled by my knowing description before we entered the castle. The guide was talking, I whispered to my mom, thru that door is my bedroom and outside my window is a garden. The guide took us through the door and said this was the Kaiser‘s daughters room. My heart pounded with recognitions. Guided outside, overlooking the Rhine is Ehrenbreitstein a fortress built to protect Stozenfelz. My fear explained.
