The characters!
Revisado: 04-02-25
James Comey can definitely write a legal thriller! I was hoping this was the jumping-off book to a Benny-Laslow crime-solving partner series (once you read it you will know), but we can only hope! A great read 👍🏼👍🏼

Inspiring story about the human spirit!
Revisado: 03-24-25
This is the kind of story you listen to when you're feeling jaded and cynical about the existence of human decency and resilience.

What is the point?!?
Revisado: 12-16-24
There are books that you can't put down because they are so compelling and you want to know what happens next before it happens. And then there are books that you power through because you quickly realize it's a waste of time and you want yo hurry up and finish it so you can have it out of your life; this is that kind of book. You are tricked into reading because it appears at first to be a crime thriller, but in reality it's a weird coming-of-age, character development story with so many unrealistic twists that by the end you're angry at yourself for venturing to read it. None of the people (SPOILERS: except Bob & "the Savior") are likeable, including the main character, and you wish them all I'll will.

Historia
At one time, Corrie ten Boom would have laughed at the idea that she had a story to tell. For the first 50 years of her life, nothing out of the ordinary ever happened to her. She was a spinster watchmaker living contentedly with her sister and their elderly father in the tiny house over their shop in Haarlem. Their uneventful days, as regulated as their own watches, revolved around their abiding love for one another. But with the Nazi invasion and occupation of Holland, everything changed....

Corrie Ten Boom takes you back to the moments of her life as if you were right there with her. Such a heartwarming message from one of the darkest chapters in human history. ❤️

The narration and the plot. It's not your typical spy thriller but it hits all the marks you expect from one nonetheless!
Revisado: 01-21-24
I love George Newburn's voice as narrator. That's the only reason I started the book, and the plot did not disappoint. Thus book is begging to be made into a movie

Historia
Her name is Renee Blackbear, but what most people call the 19-year-old Ojibwe woman is Cash. She lived all her life in Fargo, sister city to Minnesota’s Moorhead, just downriver from the Cities. She has one friend, the Sheriff Wheaton. He pulled her from her mother’s wrecked car when she was three. Since then, Cash navigated through foster homes and at 13 was working farms, driving trucks.

Cash Blackbear is back at it!
Revisado: 12-06-22
The story of Cash Blackbear continues. Reading everything that Cash goes through and all the things she is able to get out of, you forget she's only 19!!! The woman sleuth genre has gotten a fresh take with this series, not only because it centers a character from a marginalized background, but because she's also dealing with issues in her own past. I highly recommend it!
