Historia
When African jihadis attack a Nigerian regiment using American weapons, Cabrillo and the Oregon crew are on the case, investigating from Afghanistan to Kuala Lumpur to track a mysterious arms dealer—a genius, or perhaps a devil—known only as the Vendor. Cabrillo goes undercover to find the Vendor’s base, but his adversary isn’t just an arms smuggler. He’s an arms maker, and Cabrillo just walked into a lethal military game alongside the most dangerous mercenaries in the world, designed to test the Vendor’s cutting-edge AI arsenal.

Historia
In 2008, nine mountaineers failed to return from a winter backpacking trip in the New Mexico mountains. At their final campsite, searchers found a bizarre scene: something had appeared at the door of their tent so terrifying that it impelled them to slash their way out and flee barefoot to certain death in a blizzard. Despite a diligent search, only six bodies were found, two violently crushed and inexplicably missing their eyes. The case, given the code name “Dead Mountain” by the FBI, was never solved. Now, two more bodies from the lost expedition are unexpectedly discovered in a cave.

Not a Nora Kelly story
Revisado: 08-30-23
This isn't a bad story - it actually has a lot of great aspects. But it isn't about Nora Kelly. It focuses primarily on FBI agent C. Swanson. It is her path through events that drive the plot, and her fate that is at the centre of events.
The narrator is getting a lot of criticism in the reviews. I don't think she did that badly, but it IS difficult to tell her character voices apart at times. I would listen to the next installment with the samr narrator - she did okay.
The ending of the story lets down its potential. It wraps up too quickly (under 40 mins) and too predictably with no real twists or turns to make it interesting. And at the end of it all, Nora Kelly hasn't really been integral to anything.

The top-secret structure has been designed for one purpose: to excavate a recently discovered undersea site that may hold the answers to an ancient mystery.

Surprisingly engaging and unpredictable
Revisado: 11-30-22
Didn't know what to expect from this one. Definitely got my credit's worth. This is a really interesting and unusual story. The plot and characters are anything but cookie cutter, and Scott Brick just adds that extra bit of personality to the narration that makes it all come alive.
This is a story that doesn't go where you think it will go. It exceeds expectations. Give it a try - you won't regret it!

Epic story!
Revisado: 08-25-22
The epic of Imriel continues in new places with new intricate plots unfurling along the way. Vance gives a masterful performance as narrator, complementing Carey's engaging writing with a host of well crafted accents and inflections to form distinct and rich portrayals of the characters. A fantastic listen - just like the rest of the series.

Imriel de la Courcel's birth parents are history's most reviled traitors, but his adoptive parents, the Comtesse Phedre and the warrior-priest Joscelin, are Terre d'Ange's greatest champions. Stolen, tortured, and enslaved as a young boy, Imriel is now a Prince of the Blood; third in line for the throne in a land that revels in art, beauty and desire. It is a court steeped in deeply laid conspiracies - and there are many who would see the young prince dead.

Another epic begins
Revisado: 08-25-22
Carey is a master at crafting compelling stories that sucks you in. Best of all, the richness and uniqueness of the characters and plotlines means the story is full of quirks and surprises that keep you engaged and curious.
This book is the first of three (stand-alone trilogy) about Imriel - but if you haven't already read the preceeding trilogy (Kushiel's Dart, Kushiel's Chosen, Kushiel's Avatar) then I recommend you start there. It will give you a far better introduction to the entire world and cast of characters. Trust me - it is well worth it!

Thrilling conclusion to an epic tale
Revisado: 08-25-22
I never wanted this book to end. The characters are gripping and you cannot help but 'live' their lives along side them as you read. Carey artfully ties together a multitude of plot lines to spin a worthy end to this epic trilogy and set the stage for the next one (Kushiel's Scion, Kushiel's Justice, Kushiel's Mercy). Nothing disappoints - except the fact that it has to end at all. This is an epic page turner that you will read again and again.

Eloquent, intriguing and demanding
Revisado: 08-25-22
This first book in the Kushiel's Legacy series is an epic tale of love, politics and loyalty. It isnot an easy listen. You *have* to pay attention because the devil is in the detail, and if you think to glaze over it with the aim of being spoon-fed entertainment, this book is not for you. This entite series is not for you.
This book - and series - is beautifully crafted, full of intricate plot lines, amazing and believable characters and worldbuilding that is on par with with the best fiction writers. Be prepared to grit your teeth at the protagonist and adore the antagonists. And be prepared to come away with a story that stays with you long, long after you have finished it.
I cannot recommend this book highly enough. The one slight, slight drawback being the narrator whose diction truly gives life to the characters (and is CONSISTENT in pronounciation and names throughout the series) but does struggle some with especially the Skaldi accents. But it takes nothing away from the story - nothing.

Too much Swedish chef
Revisado: 10-23-21
I can't say whether this is a good story. The narrator makes it impossible to listen to. It sounds like he took lessons on languages and accents from the Swedish chef from the Muppets. It is THAT bad. Over the top and to the point where the seemingly random jumps from exaggerated accent to even more exaggerated accent makes it so difficult to figure out who is talking that it completely distorts any attempt at following the storyline.
Of the hundreds of audiobooks with a multitude of narrators, both trained pros and authors doing their own narration, that I have listened to over the years, this stands out as the absolute worst. I honestly don't know how it ever made it out of production.

This is not a Pendergast story
Revisado: 09-11-21
Sure. It may have agents Pendergast and Coldmoon and Constance as main characters, but the storyline is ridiculous, disjointed and so far from what made the Pendergast series so unique and interesting to begin with it feels like the authors should have stopped writing on this series several books ago.
And the new narrator (no east task following Rene Auberjonois) makes it a drag to listen to. Constance is somehow sounding like an angry old woman and many of the characters have accents so exaggerated it is hard to listen to.
I wish the series had stopped rather than having been allowed to wash out like this.
