what I didn't like with the audible, was the fact that the same person played every character. his voice for the female characters was annoying

From the moment his eyes met hers, there was something. Time stood still, the world around them vanished, and electricity... instant electricity. Immediately, she owned him in an inexplicable way he couldn’t quite understand. He couldn't escape her. Not in his dreams. And soon, not even in his reality. He was the man that made her soar. There was nothing in the world she wanted more than him. Absolutely nothing. His touch made her levitate. When she was with him, she was limitless. He felt like home.

Historia
Americans have built an empire on the idea of “race”, a falsehood that damages us all but falls most heavily on the bodies of Black women and men - bodies exploited through slavery and segregation and, today, threatened, locked up, and murdered out of all proportion. What is it like to inhabit a Black body and find a way to live within it? And how can we all honestly reckon with this fraught history and free ourselves from its burden? Between the World and Me is Ta-Nehisi Coates’ attempt to answer these questions in a letter to his adolescent son.

so relatable on so many levels
Revisado: 06-24-24
I came across the author on a tic toc and it was the content and accent. I'm a product of baltimore, I've been gone for 14years now. I'm a mom of 3 sons. the younger 2 has had a nurse for a mom their whole life and never had to visit their dad in prison. they just hear stories. after my completion, I sent this book to my middle son 13 a lover of books and told him to share with his dad. they spend the summer traveling the states with their west Baltimore daddy. not in every way, but this is our story. I'm so proud of us. this book will help our kids to see us.
