Outstanding, as Always!

Same great character development, story build-up, and execution I anticipate from a Liane Moriarty book. Same great narration. I feel blessed to have added this book into my life as it provides wonderful perspective on the breath we unknowingly take for granted.

“Thriller” is a very generous term

Saw the ending a mile away. Not enough tension, not enough action. If you’re looking for an edge-of-seat thriller, this isn’t it. It’s mediocre summer-time reading but that’s about it.

The Most Predictable Dribble

Seriously, do not waste your time. Every character and moment in this book is a trope. This felt like a story submission for an initial college creative writing course. There was nothing suspenseful or satisfying in these 8hrs.

Oooo spooky saaaand

I went into this novel thinking I'd be chilled to my spine. This was just one of many very weak "horror" novels. There wasn't really any suspense or psychologically thrilling moments either. The narrator also delivers every single sentence in exactly the same harsh tone, like a lecturer. Needless to say, I will be getting my credit back on this one.

A trip down nostalgia lane!

The sound production was an unexpectated but wonderful experience. You'll be reminded of back when the movies were actually good. More if this! Less weird Prometheus storyline.

Not Catered for a Female Audience

After listening to 4 books now, the dick jokes are becoming a nuisance. Once in a blue moon, fine, but this book was hard to enjoy because the author dumbed down the characters with persistent comments on their ability to be men & the size or strength of their dicks. I love good scifi and mmorpgs but it is as though this author only believes men capable of enjoying the matter. In comparison to good, engaging scifi, this book drug on at times and the author has a bit of growing up to do. No longer engaged, as a female reader, to listen to the rest of this series. If you are a "bro" that likes to confirm his masculinity in tropish ways & comments, this is the series for you.

Waste of Time

I do not comprehend why this "horror" novel is reviewed so highly. I get that it's a Gothic piece and "ahead of its time " in terms of a female author dabbling into such a niche genre. However, literally nothing happened in this book. There was some knocking on doors. There were scared, jealous women and men playing chess. A woman goes a bit mad for half a second and climbs a rotting tower. She is swiftly rescued from said tower before falling to her death. Then she drives a war into a tree because she didn't want to be put out from the house. That was it. That is a legit synopsis of this book.
