Historia
"You can never go home again," the saying goes—but Hal, Athena, and Erin have to. In high school, the three were students of the eccentric Professor Marsh, trained in a secret system of magic known as the Dissonance, which is built around harnessing negative emotions: alienation, anger, pain. Then, twenty years ago, something happened that shattered their coven, scattering them across the country, stuck in mundane lives, alone. But now, terrifying signs and portents (not to mention a pointed Facebook invite) have summoned them back to Clegg, Texas.

The more you're broken, the more you're magic.
Revisado: 08-02-24
“The Dissonance” by Shaun Hamill is an engaging and immersive read. The characters are relatable and well-developed. I resonated with each character in different ways and cared for them almost immediately, but loved Hal the most. The plot is well-paced, keeping you hooked from start to finish. However, there were times when I wished for more detail and time. Hamill's writing style is accessible and engaging. Soneela Nankani does an amazing job. Her pacing is spot on, and her character voices are distinct and easy to follow, making the audiobook a great experience. While it will be compared to Stephen King’s “It” or “Stranger Things,” I think The Dissonance stands on its own as a welcome addition to whatever we're calling spooky magic mystery teen adventure stories. Overall, it’s a compelling read with memorable characters. Highly recommend!

Mysterious gateways are appearing throughout the universe, bridging violent civilizations, leading to war, and sowing chaos. While some species succumb to the pandemonium, the Chut’un forge an unholy symbiotic relationship—The Order—with red Europhids, a vast hive intelligence populating the universe’s far reaches. Desiring structure and fearing the unknown, they cull everything opposed to their plan, including the Europhids’ blue counterparts, carrying out a galactic genocide until only one blue Europhid remains...inside Moses Montgomery, a.k.a. This is a riot of a time. However, if you've not yet read the three novels The Order combines, you're going to be lost. Most likley, you'll be left lacking a real connection to the characters.

We are all the Turner Family.
Revisado: 09-24-19
A Cosmology of Monsters is a novel like no other. The story bends the rules of what horror and dark fiction are supposed to be and it pays off. Hamill leads us on an exploration of the terror, loss, longing, happiness, and love that we face everyday all while paying respect to the genre and those who came before him.
Hopkins' performance is top notch. Distinctive characters and excellent tone lend a perfect pairing to the story.

Bob Johansson didn't believe in an afterlife, so waking up after being killed in a car accident was a shock. To add to the surprise, he is now a sentient computer and the controlling intelligence for a Von Neumann probe. Bob and his copies have been spreading out from Earth for 40 years now, looking for habitable planets. But that's the only part of the plan that's still in one piece.

The tactics still hold.
Revisado: 04-20-17
I loved We Are Legion, but I was worried that the format would get dull and boring. I'm happy to report I was wrong. Taylor has done it again. I laughed, cried, and sat on the edge of my seat. The Bobiverse is still on track to be a Scifi main stay in my opinion.
Anyone who has ever listened to a book narrated by Ray Porter already knows this, but the man is single handedly one of the best narrators ever. His delivery is always excellent, characters always distinct, and emotion always received. The only thing that threw me off, but something totally nit picky, was a change in some pronunciations from the first book. Still a 5/5 performance.
