Historia
Melony Yoshimura’s parents have always been overprotective. They say it’s because a demonic spirit called the Amanjaku once preyed upon kids back in Japan, but Melony suspects it’s just a cautionary tale to keep her in line. So on her twelfth birthday, Melony takes a chance and wishes for the freedom and adventure her parents seem determined to keep her from.

Very enjoyable story
Revisado: 09-29-23
Very enjoyable story, and interesting melding of (new to me) folklore in a modern setting. A very relatable child heroine that you can root for in her story. The cast of supporting characters were vivid and memorable too.

Brilliant performance of a brilliant book
Revisado: 12-19-22
I loved this book so much I reread it as an audiobook right after I had finished the printed version. The narrators deliver a brilliant and lively performance that had me cackling, swooning and just plain smiling. This is definitely one of the best adaptations of P&P, but the story, characters, their and world are new, vivid and seem uniquely alive as any real person. I’m eagerly anticipating Sex, Lies and Sensibility, especially after realizing it’s a shared universe with Pride and Protest. ❤️❤️❤️

Through the ringer and then some. The ending makes me eager for book 3, and wonder just how she’s going to continue her world building. The sound effects I could’ve done without, but otherwise Baha’i Turpin’s narration is excellent.

An Animal Genre classic!
Revisado: 02-14-16
What did you love best about Little Grey Rabbit's Story Treasury?
It's animal genre, and a very imaginative story of animal country life in the olden days. I couldn't help comparing Grey Rabbit to the Cinderella Rabbit from Alison Uttley's Little Red Fox and Cinderella. She's such a sweet natured, hard worker.
What other book might you compare Little Grey Rabbit's Story Treasury to and why?
Any of Beatrix Potter's tales, and of course Alison Uttley's Little Red Fox stories. Animals behaving like people, rural settings, and olden times.
What does Elaine Claxton bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Elaine Claxton has a pleasant and soothing voice. She capably does a variety of voices for the characters. Even her singing is top notch. I love hearing her voice for Little Grey Rabbit.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, even the Christmas story even though it's February--Valentine's day even.
Any additional comments?
Please add Alison Uttley's Little Red Fox stories to the audible collection too.

My favorite Wodehouse book & recording
Revisado: 10-21-13
If you could sum up Love Among the Chickens in three words, what would they be?
hilarious, memorable, silly
Who was your favorite character and why?
Stanley Featherstonehaugh Ukridge. A lot of the humor comes from SFU being such an unconventional rascal, ne'er do well.
What about Jonathan Cecil’s performance did you like?
He capably voiced different characters. Lively reading with dramatic/comedic emphasis. Cecil's performance is my favorite, I was so glad when audible added to the store. Before I had the CD audiobook and couldn't enjoy it on my iPod.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
The truths in the letter from Aunt Elizabeth. It always makes me feel a bit sympathetic towards Millie Ukridge. I mean, Ukridge's rascally behavior is comical, but gosh there is something tragic in Millie being married to such a flake.
Any additional comments?
Wodehouse had a way with words, and Love Among the Chickens is one of his stories that is a great pick-me-up when you're in need of a laugh. It stands up to repeat listening too. Just try it old horse.

Secrets and Wicked Wealthy People
Revisado: 08-29-09
If you enjoy Alcott's A Long Fatal Love Chase, The Inheritance, or any of her stories written under Banard, you'll enjoy A Modern Mephistopheles. Melodramatic, and suspenseful, its charm lies in it being like something Jo March might have written in her blood and thunder days. Solid narration, though at times too soft spoken that the audio must be turned up.

Virginia's Leishman's narration is excellent, as is the audio quality. I already own another recording, but I purchased this one because it was available in a better quality. A wonderful story of a little girl's character tested in the face of adversity. Its one of the select few audiobooks that I always keep on my ipod, so that I may listen to random selections.

Captivating. You won't want to pause it even for a moment. Dahl's voice is strong, engaging, and convincing as a variety of characters. Best of all, you'll find none of the cheesy music and sound effects that plague other audio books.
