A Great Commentary on the Bible

It physically hurts me when adults write of The Cornicles of Narnia as mere children's Books. They are children's books, but they are also packed with wisdom for every age. When asked what my what my favorite commentary on the Bible is, I will always reply The Cornicles of Narnia. C. S. Lewis looks at many Biblical themes, everything from suffering (The Magicians Nephew) to the providence of God (The Horse and His Boy) our calling (The Silver Chair) and even God's judgment (The Last Battle). Because of the nature of his storytelling his writing is profound without getting lost in details. If you have not read these books as an adult please do.
The production quality of this audiobook is excellent and geared towards adults.

Interested he lays out their various accomplishments in light of the culture that surrounded each of them. I found myself emotionally moved by his telling of each of these roll models lives.

Life Together by Dietrich Bonhoeffer
challenging and comforting. In it I was faced with much I could do better as a follower of Jesus. At the same time the truth of the gospel is presented in such a way that growth and increase in maturity as the body are shown to be attainable. The sections on work, on worship, on giving God our first thought in the day, and on the way that work can become a continual prayer I found especially compelling and challenging.
