Historia
Being a billionaire heiress isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In fact, it sucks. Determined to live a quiet life, Kat Tanner changed her identity years ago and eschewed her family’s legacy. But now, Kat’s silver spoon past has finally caught up with her, and so have her youthful mistakes. To avoid imminent disaster, she must marry immediately; it is essential that the person she chooses have no romantic feelings for her whatsoever and be completely trustworthy. Fortunately, she knows exactly who to ask. Dan O’Malley checks all the boxes.

I loved the story, disliked the heroines narrator

Any additional comments?
This is the last book in the Knitting in the City series, so considering I've come this far you'd be right in assuming I'm a huge fan of the series. I already have this book on my Kindle, but wanted to be able to listen to it as well. I devoured the book on my kindle in one sitting, and felt it was the absolute perfect ending. I truly loved Kat and Dan (Dan cusses a lot, but this isn't something that bothers me at all).
Unfortunately, I feel the female narrator was completely wrong for Kat. Kat's personality is more quiet, not weak in any way, just quiet. The narrator reads extremely fast and makes Kat sound very aggressive. (Sidenote, this is the same narrator used for Beard in Mind, and I felt she 'fit' the personality of the heroine). I literally cringed at how she read Kat. It isn't the narrator's voice, just her interpretation.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, the narrator for Dan is absolutely perfect. His accent, tone, and reading speed fits Dan to a t!
Considering the perfection of Dan's narrator, I'm just so sad because I can't listen to Kat's side of the story, so I'll have to return this one. (Or maybe just listen to Dan's chapters!)

A Story Unlike Anything I've Read!
Revisado: 01-10-18

I loved that this book was such a new premise to me. It was just a little slow to start, mostly just because I was just as confused as the main character. But it wasn't long before I was sucked into the mystery. I even had trouble stopping and going to bed!
I will say though that while this has a little romance, there's no steam at all, so to me it's mostly a mystery, rather than romance.
I really enjoyed the story overall, but was a little dissatisfied by the ending, while I think it's an HEA, it felt a bit incomplete. I'm hoping we get a sequel to truly finish the story.

Impatient with such a STUPID heroine!
Revisado: 12-30-16
Any additional comments?
Some spoilers in this review.
The entire book I was so frustrated with how stupid the heroine was. She goes back in time and acts like a modern woman, yet she is supposed to be a historian, an expert? It just didn't make sense! Then she just leaves this person who she clearly loves, for a job. For a promotion. It just felt shallow, and she didn't even try to tell her great love that she loved him. By the time she did realize her own stupidity I was just impatient with her and not sympathetic towards her.
I enjoyed the narrator when she spoke with her British accent, but the heroines American accent was a bit annoying.

Joy, Sorrow, Sacrifice, A Wonderful Emotional Read
Revisado: 11-19-16
Any additional comments?
So far, I have greatly enjoyed The Seven Sisters series. I have been anticipating this story since the moment we were introduced to Star in the first book. Lucinda Riley exceeded my expectations, giving us a story packed with emotion.
The story starts with Star, who is realizing she needs to step out of the shadow of her sister and be her own person. I think the way Ms. Riley did this was perfect for Star's personality (through, truthfully, at times, I wanted Star to shout at her sister and tell her off - though that wouldn't have been Star at all).
Then we learn Flora's story, and I loved many of the parallels between her and Star and at times felt so involved with Flora's story I felt nervous for her! Her story was so satisfying.
I think one of my favorite things about this story is the growth of the characters Star and Mouse. They really grow and change throughout the story and have such depth.
I would say that there is really not as much romance in this book as the previous two, it's more on the periphery (for Star, at least). This isn't a bad thing at all, though I'd have to say my only complaint is feeling like Star's story ended a bit soon. I would have liked to see an epilogue, but perhaps as the other stories move forward we can learn more of how her story ends.
Also, we have a couple more instances of them seeing a person who looks mysteriously like a certain person (no spoilers here!). I can't wait to find out more of this mystery!
Overall, this is one of my favorite books of Ms. Riley's so far and will for sure be listening again. Jessica Preddy does an excellent job with the voices and accents and she's a real pleasure to listen to. I intend to look for more books narrated by her!

Talented chef Meg Delaney hasn't spoken to her cheating ex-fiancé, Matt Midland, for two years. Ditching him at the altar after blurting out "I can't" instead of "I do" would sour any relationship. But now, just as Meg is finally ready to bury the hatchet, she learns closure is permanently off the menu. And the kicker? Matt's brother, Kyle, is back in her life, stirring up feelings that are equal parts guilt and lust.

Went for Empathetic, Got Doormat Instead
Revisado: 10-04-16
Any additional comments?
I'm going to try and give the author the benefit of the doubt, and believe she tried to write the heroine, Meg, as empathetic. But instead, she wrote her as a complete doormat. If she hadn't been this way, I might have tolerated the completely preposterous events in the book and slightly enjoyed it.
Warning, some spoilers ahead.
Perhaps, you're okay with doormats, so here's a few of the preposterous events for you. First, the aforementioned doormat pays for all expenses for a called-off wedding because she decided not to marry the cheating jerk of a fiance. Second, the ex-fiance dies from taking Viagra before a hair-transplant surgery. Third, the dead es-fiance's brother, who was supposedly so in love with heroine the entire time, causes major issues by taking the side of the cheating jerk because of "artists rights". Again, perhaps I'd have put up with some of these ridiculous happenings if only the heroine would have stuck up for herself.
I really don't recommend this book at all, the one redeeming quality is the narrator, who did the best she could with what she was given.

Historia
On the night of the Parkhurst ball, someone had a scandalous tryst in the library. Was it Lord Canby, with the maid, on the divan? Or Miss Fairchild, with a rake, against the wall? Perhaps the butler did it. All Charlotte Highwood knows is this: It wasn't her. But rumors to the contrary are buzzing. Unless she can discover the lovers' true identity, she'll be forced to marry Piers Brandon, Lord Granville - the coldest, most arrogantly handsome gentleman she's ever had the misfortune to embrace.

I laughed so much!
Revisado: 10-03-16
This book has everything I was looking for in a light hearted romance. Love, humor, and a bit of steam!
I honestly don't understand why people complain about the narrator. I thought she did a fantastic job of bringing the characters to life. The "monotone" you hear in the excerpt is the worst it gets and it gets much much better.
I'm usually very critical of heroines in stories, I don't enjoy whiny or bratty, so I was happy with this heroine. She was smart, funny, and loving. I felt she was a very good compliment to the hero's personality. I felt they both grew throughout the book.
Overall, I highly recommend this book if you're looking for a humorous and light hearted romance!

One I'll listen to again and again!
Revisado: 09-09-16
Any additional comments?
I loved this book so much that even though it's on Kindle Unlimited for both Kindle and Audible I felt it necessary to purchase it to have forever. This story was funny, emotional and charming. I really have to give my compliments to the narrator because she brought to life all the characters, and did a fantastic job with the accents. They were believable and not over the top as some narrators I've heard.
I love the premise for this series and felt that Rosemary and Sal were great characters to start it out. Rosemary is sweet but lives a fairly sheltered life under her mothers overprotective thumb. Sal is floundering through life a bit, still reeling from a heartbreak, unfocused and tempted to give in to the easy route his mother has planned for his life. Together, they help each other learn to live.
While I'm more a fan of "slow burn" romances, this insta-love romance reeled me in and I'm already listening to it a second time. It was somewhat predictable, but that didn't impact my enjoyment one bit.

Thrilling and Keeps You Guessing
Revisado: 05-07-16
Any additional comments?
I love long books. So I found this gem of a book when I sorted the Young Adult books by length. Boy, was I pleasantly surprised at what a good book I had found!
I could really identify with Adele, the main character. I felt her confusion and pain and even her joy. I really appreciated that she was multidimensional and I felt like it was how I would feel if I had been in her shoes.
This book really kept me guessing. I thought I had it all figured out but I was surprised by the end! I highly recommend this book, especially if you appreciate romantic vampire thrillers/mysteries.

Perfect Ending!

This story was beautiful. It weaved together love between parents and children, love between friends, forbidden love, and love of a game. It had wonderful character progression and by the end I felt so close to them (even had teary eyes!). I know some may not like the ending, and think that it's abrupt. But truly, this story ends on about the highest note possible. I love a story that gives me the ending I hoped for (specifically who ended up with who) but leaves room for my imagination. I felt I didn't need to know each little detail of how it happened. Since I finished the story the characters have been on my mind, and that's how I like it!
